Hamas/Israel conflict: news and discussion

Here is your safe space. We're now going to bomb your safe space.

How we verified video of strike on fleeing Palestinians

We've been reporting that at least 12 people, including young children, have been killed in a strike on a Palestinian convoy fleeing northern Gaza via a designated evacuation route.
We were able to do this because of video footage from the aftermath of the strike, which we verified the location of.

But y'know, humans. Make errors. Someone probably just pressed some wrong co-ordinates or something.

Worth a read, written by someone who lives there:

This is pretty impressive:

All of this has been green-lighted by "our" senior politicians. They must never be allowed to forget what they've supported here: war crimes.

Having spent 20 years in data/ polling and communications it’s not about judgment or “regard”; it’s about knowing largely how the British public think and act.

So the British public, who are constantly informed we are one of the few unarmed police forces in the world (if only this were true and not just a media plea for them to be fully armed), are so thick they don't hear that and would think Israel, a country constantly at war with an enemy 'within' have unarmed police? Just admit you're being stupid and move on.

In other news, for those still thinking Israel give a shit about their own hostages, this from Israeli national security advisor Tzachi Henegbi

He went on to refuse negotiations surrounding prisoner swaps with Hamas, saying: “There’s no way to negotiate with an enemy we have sworn to obliterate.”

You’re an idiot.

I don’t see much verification there.

Compare to this incident today. It would make much more sense that Hamas are bombing but no point jumping to conclusions.

The BBC report on the demo

Palestine Action are taking responsibility, according to this report, for daubing BBC building with red paint -for their biased reporting. Slightly unfair as BBC have had stick from the right for not saying Hamas are terrorist.

However this particular article on BBC website annoys me.

Gives report of the demo. Then at end adds bit about rise in anti semitic incidents recorded by the Met.

This is a different issue.

Putting it in same report on a largely peaceful demo at which no anti semitic incident took place is imo implying public demonstrations of support for Palestinians as a people and opposition to bombing of Gaza is somehow contributing to an atmosphere where anti semitic incidents increase. This is the kind of thing that winds me up.

Most of Israels previous crimes, while extreme and grotesque have not warranted that comparison.

This time, they are overtly, consciously and unashamedly planning and executing genocide. We are getting to the point where we need to ask ourselves what are we doing to stop this?
Who is ‘we’?

Nothing. The UK government is a disgraceful cheerleader to carnage, genocide and war crimes. Best you can do is put out the word to friends, family and the wider world that it's not in your name - and give to a charity that will help Palestinians, once aid is allowed by Israel.

This is why I asked who we was. At this stage the most impact I think I can have is giving to the national appeal the DEC will likely be running in the next week or two. In the meantime I’m donating to Islamic Relief UK.

I'd feel weird about donating to a charity that mentions any specific religion in their title. :hmm: I'm sure they are okay, but it just doesn't sit that well with me...
