Hamas/Israel conflict: news and discussion

Good article on Al Jazeera about the anger towards the West for its failure to condemn Israel. This is a diplomatic disaster whose effects will ripple out for decades to come.
Outrage at US, Israel’s European allies grows since Gaza hospital blast
This isn't Islamists talking. These are secularists and pro-democracy activists who oppose autocracy and Islamism in their own countries. They've been fucked over.
Well if anyone wanted to know how the western establishment of today would react to (what even Haaretz describes as) a fascist state enacting genocidal ethnic cleansing, now we know. Not just a diplomatic disaster I think, it erodes all respect for international law and basic human rights standards...this kind of hypocrisy isn't new of course, but its like a broken sewer leaking ever more acid into the world

Bizarre how opening a border would be an act of ethnic cleansing. Are there any other borders in history that should have been stopped up to help the people who wanted flee exercise their right to remain? Waiting for some examples.

Israel has a record of forcing Palestinians from their land, across borders, never to be allowed back, you platinum plonker.

There's something deeply unpleasant about the way you are constructing these replies. Have a fucking word with yourself, thousands of people are being wiped out.

From the article. Been reading Starmer publicity advisors ham fisted attempt at mending fences with the Muslim community.

It was this tweet:

The bit were he start the tweet saying this. As some have said why did he go to a Muslim centre in Wales to ask for hostages to be released. Is he under the idea that all Muslims are in Hamas. What an idiot.

Given the amount of border creep since it was drawn up ...just how viable is the 2 state solution these days? Genuine question

Yes, and you think each Palestinian shouldn't get to decide whether to leave their land and take the risk of not being able to return. They should be forced to remain their by Egypt for their own good. Ignore the fact that some would want to leave and some to stay put - they shouldn't get to decide what to do. Showing your true colours.

Fuck off

I think the people who want a border to remain sealed while thousands of people are being wiped out should have fucking words with themselves.

Breaking my fucking heart.

“Families in Gaza are now wearing ID bracelets in case they die and so they can identify loved ones amidst ongoing Israeli bombing.

The ID bracelets are also helpful as mass graves are becoming more common in the enclave, due to the high death count.

Ali El-Daba, 40, told Reuters that he had seen bodies ripped apart by the bombing and were unrecognisable.

He said he decided to divide his family to prevent them from all dying in a single strike. He said his wife Lina, 42, kept two of their sons and two daughters in Gaza City in the north and he moved to Khan Younis in the south with three other children.

El-Daba said he was preparing for the worst. He bought blue string bracelets for his family members and tied them around both wrists. "If something happens," he said, "this way I will recognise them."

Other Palestinian families were also buying or making bracelets for their children or writing their names on their arms.”

In other news, my good friend Medyan has lost contact with his photojournalists in Gaza.

I just don't understand how suggesting Egypt could help by opening the border gets this reaction. Genuinely perplexed. Would love for someone to help me understand instead of telling me to fuck off or that I'm advocating ethnic cleansing.

They've already been forced by the Israeli state to leave their land, that's why 2 million plus Palestinians have been crowded into Gaza for decades.

If I told you that unless you give me everything you own, I will kill you and your family and your family’s family, I guess that it is technically true to say that one solution is indeed for you to just give me everything you own. I mean, it’s not a solution that anyone but a dyed-in-the-wool psychopath would endorse. But yes, it is a solution.

Not sure how some bloke coming along and bricking me up in my house with you is going to help matters.
