Hamas/Israel conflict: news and discussion

Really don't know what to say when I read things like this.

From BBC news feed this morning,
08.44 GMT
The Palestinian Quds news network is carrying a statement from Dr Hussam Abu Safiya, director of the Kamal Adwan hospital in the north of the Gaza Strip.

He told them:

The situation is still very difficult and we are still besieged inside the hospital. Ten days ago, most of the medical staff were arrested, and I am left with only two doctors and a number of nurses.

Unfortunately, we lost a number of wounded people due to the lack of surgical specialties, as most cases come on foot and require surgical intervention. After the crews were arrested, the occupation did not allow surgical crews to enter, and there is not a single ambulance in the northern Gaza Strip. As a result, many of the injured die in the streets because they are unable to reach us. This is very dangerous.

In addition, in the past two days, the occupation directly and randomly bombed the hospital buildings, and hospitalised children and crews providing services in the place were injured.

Unfortunately, we appealed to the world and international and humanitarian institutions, but we did not receive an answer.

Yeah, was clear a year ago, but out in the open now...waiting for Trump to announce it? Timing seems beyond coincidental
"Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner is facing criticism over comments he made at a February talk at Harvard University, where he said Gaza’s waterfront property could be “very valuable” and Israel could “move the people out, and then clean it up,”"

On Trump.

Was listening to Owen Jones and Novara media. Who did good job interviewing ordinary Americans.

What came across when talking to Trump supporters was section of them support Israel for religious reasons.

One ( and this seemed common with Trump voters) was saying that why were all these arms/ support going to Ukraine when Americans needed help. When asked what about all the US support for arms to Israel the answer was that is different.

So from this straw poll of Trump voters got impression if US has got to put Americans first ( something btw I think is reasonable. ) then Israel comes before Ukraine.

The other Trump voters thought Americans should come first instead of all this support for arms for wars outside US. That in their view Trump didn't start wars. That in short America should concentrate on blue collar Americans. Not foreign wars and cost entailed.

Which tbh I think if I was American Id agree with.

How this Trump victory ( which I didn't expect) pans out for Palestinians I don't know.

A more isolationist America might be better. Democrats 110 percent support for Israel has been a disaster for Palestinians in Gaza

Got impression from Trump supporters a main issue was jobs with globalisation being outsourced to China. The cost of living .That kind of thing is more important than wars in middle east and Europe. Don't allow jobs to be outsourced and protect American industry. With protectionism.

Palestine is getting blasted/starved off the map, as it has been under Biden and Harris....Trump is all for the West Bank getting "cleansed" and occupied too. So that will all continue apace. No cause for any optimism.

Ukraine, have to wait and see but he's been unambiguous: the weapons tap will be turned off, which will presumably force negotiations. I expect Russia to limit themselves to their officially annexed territories rather than moving on Kyiv or advancing beyond those borders, but we will see soon enough.

Calls on the Israeli right to use Trump's election as an opportunity to annex and ethnically cleanse the West Bank, and pressure US to end US sanctions on illegal settlements.

With Netanyahu and his fellow cunt Trump soon dealing with each otherboth theses things seems almost inevitable

Yes seems inevitable....
ALSO
heard a clip from a debate of Trump bragging about attacking Iranian 'nuclear' sites....so there's also the possibility of a less subtle proxy war moving up a gear to the long-dreamed of US attack on Iran

However watching people who said they would vote Trump and also listening to undecided voters last week on World Service its cost of living that's a major issue.

One also said compensation to people who lost homes in recent hurricane has been pitiful compared to all the money going to Ukraine and Israel.

If Trump doesn't address this cost of living issue quickly but still shovels money at Israel I'm not sure its going to go down all that well with some who decided to vote Trump as Democrats presidency had ended with ordinary workers worse off and Ukraine / Israel perceived to get more support than actual blue collar Americans.

This crisis was never going to be solved at the US ballot box. It's all up to the axis of resistance and their allies to defeat Israel.

The decisions to arm Ukraine and Israel are not made by Trump, they are made by a conspiracy of all the people who profit from weapons manufacturing.

Meanwhile, the only democracy in the Middle East is passing the Nuremberg laws:

The Israeli parliament has given its final approval to controversial legislation that allows the government to deport the family members of so-called “terrorists”, including its own citizens, to the Gaza Strip and other locations.

As the bill cleared the two required final plenum readings on Thursday, lawmakers in the Knesset approved the law – which would apply to Palestinian citizens of Israel as well – by 61 votes in favour to 41 against.

I really cannot agree with this.

A major reason the genocide has kept going is because , unlike some previous US presidents, Biden was a self confessed Zionist who was quite happy to arm Israel.

Democratic leadership are genocide enabler. Harris was no better.

Not because of any conspiracy.

This didn't have to happen.

Started reading Jeanne Pierre Filiu book Gaza a History.

During the Suez crisis Israel supported France and Britain. IDF took control of Gaza strip. Promptly started doing mass arrests of Palestinians and summarily executing those they thought had been involved in the fighting to get their land back the Zionists stole. Usual Zionist process of rounding up all adult males and picking out those who were considered troublemakers.

Same Zionist process used in Gaza now.

David Ben Gurion and Moshe Dayan thought this was all going very well and started to make noises about how they would like to stay. Gaza as Moshe saw on a visit had some nice farmland for settlers.

President Eisenhower in no uncertain terms said no. And Israel had to back off.

Point of this is past Presidents have used leverage to tell these Zionists when they have gone to far.

Biden no.

Its politics not conspiracy. Our political class in this country and the one in US have largely supported and enabled a racist government in Israel run by hardline Zionists to mass murder Palestinians and take their land.

That's a political choice they make not a conspiracy.

To clarify: the US is not going to stop giving aid/weapons to Ukraine and Israel because it is incredibly profitable. A conspiracy of all the people in my post above means the collection of weapons manufacturers who are burning through their stores of equipment that will take years of contracts to replace.

We’ve reached the “slap a couple of gendarmes around” phase of the conflict:

If you read to the end of the article, it's not the first time there have been similar incidents:

I guess they don't like having another nation having a presence in a city that they consider to be theirs and occasionally they throw their weight around. Still pretty thugish and indicative of a mindset imo.

Being anti Israeli is not anti semetic.
“Two videos from Wednesday showed Israeli fans climbing walls to pull Palestinian flags down from second-story windows; in one clip, scores of Israelis gathered below cheer the act before the flag is burned on the street. Maccabi hooligans also sang an anti-Arab chantThursday as they entered the stadium.”
From your link.

They are hooligan scum though.

That's correct. Being antisemitic is antisemitic. Being anti-israeli might not be, depending on how that's expressed and for what apparent purpose. You, for example, cross the line regularly.

Anyway as I said, a second perspective. That's OK isn't it?

Many including our newly returned 'anti-semite witchfinder general' will not but I fully agree, this can only be resolved by the complete and total defeat of what has effectively become a racially supremacist neo fascist boil on the face of the planet. Some times repeated treatment with medication does not work and surgery remains is the only solution.
