Hamas/Israel conflict: news and discussion

Is it really so ludicrous that a Hamas operative might have an Al-Qaeda document dating from 2003 on how to manufacture a cyanide weapon in their possession, given all the other documents they have been found in possession of? I’m not sure why everyone think this is outlandish and obviously fake?

Apparently, one of the attackers from Hamas had a document on him headed (in English) “Al-Qaeda”, together with instructions about how to manufacture chemical weapons.

As my Mum used to: Pull the other one, it’s got bells on it.

Let get this right here, Hamas 'invaded' Israel just to a bomb and get Chemical weapons is this the new line now?

Well that says a lot about your credulity.

They probably update the manual since then

An operative that had entered Israel? Yes, that is pretty outlandish.

Blueprints back at base, sure. Weighed down with incriminating paperwork marked, in English, “Important terrorism instructions” while carrying out the October 7th attacks? Not so much.

No, not “weighed down”, on a USB stick, in Arabic, and presumably among lots of other documents.

At least read about something before crying fake nooz.

Breaking through the wall. An amazing achievement on it's own right.

Taking on and defeating surprised IDF barracks.

Taking hostages. Especially military hostages.

The forlorn hope that there may be military mobilisations (Hizbollah at least) against Israel that would make them compromise in the face of calamity.

There is also the simple joy that the oppressed managed to turn the tables at least for a couple of days. And I know the response is that Hamas are a ruling Islamist party, but I can separate criticism of Hamas domestic rule and military action.

Edit to add: Also that Israel governs by displays of strength against Arabs and Palestinians in particular. This vision of strength was shattered on 7/10.
Absolute state of that.

Just watching the news of mothers and babies being taken hostage by masked men with guns. Babies. Elderly people in need of medication. Women being dragged around by there hair and who knows what else. And no news on these hostages. And of course we know there was indescriminate murder too.

And you're talking of "amazing achievement" and "simple joy". Something is seriously wrong with you.

Oh, I have to watch YouTube videos? Sorry, that doesn’t work for me. Give me an article to read.

I managed to find articles before commenting, not sure why you didn’t bother. Lots of people seem very keen to minimise these terrorists’ terror, so i expect that’s why you jumped in.

President Isaac Herzog in the video then goes on to claim that it is Hamas that is responsilbe for the lack of electricity in the Gaza Strip.
Indeed. The claim about an Al-Qaeda handbook isn't even the most outlandish of his claims in those two minutes.

ETA: Strikes me that all that was intended for foreign - particularly US - consumption, hence the link to Al-Qaeda and putting it in English. They want Hamas to be seen as Islamist terrorists first and last.
