Hamas/Israel conflict: news and discussion

Errm I thought this was ... interesting ...

She never visited Israel apparently.
Would think the King David hotel bombing would have lingered long in her memory.

My Nanna was a nurse in Jerusalem at the time and only spoke about what she dealt with that night once.

Completely unsurprised to find out she was a racist old dog after all.

The Queen?

In my area some of the people from Windrush background have a lot of time for the Queen.

I'm not monarchist myself. But chatting to some people in my area ( Black British) they mourned her loss when she died.

I asked them why and they said the following:

In there view she took a genuine interest in people from Commonwealth and in Commonwealth countries

And she was criticised by Enoch Powell years ago for doing so.

So imo refusing ( allegedly) to have Israeli officials inside Buckingham Palace is a point in her favour.

The controversy flared from accusations made Friday by right-wing Member of Parliament Enoch Powell, who said the queen was more concerned about a 'vociferous minority' of non-white immigrants than with British natives.
The government, Powell said, seemed afraid for the Queen 'to speak as a Christian monarch to a Christian people or as the British monarch to the British nation.'

Buckingham Palace spokesman Michael Shea said in response to the charge that the queen wrote her own speech and delivered it as head of the Commonwealth, not as the queen of Britain alone.

lol of course it is :D

Xi Jin Ping
George W Bush
Donald Trump
Bashir al Assad
Abdullah of Saudi
Nicolae Ceaucescu
Robert Mugabe
Mobutu Sese Seko
Vladimir Putin

...iirc she met them all officially, some even had actual 'state visits". But israelis? No no, all far too terroristic for her to meet even one of them officially

Found this with all that David Lammy said under questioning from the Foreign Affairs Committee

Bit about Gaza starts at one hour and 17 minutes in.

Sorry its Sky but best I could find.

His arguments in face of some good questions are in summary these

Hamas are Evil ( yes he said that) Any queries about Israel and its "complex"

When asked his position on annexation of West Bank and sanctions ( as leading Israeli politicians have said they want that) his reply is that this is hypothetical question and he could not pre judge this. Pointed out that the occupation of West Bank has been ruled illegal and he's got nothing to say about sanctions. Also pointed out to him that Russia is under sanctions over Ukraine.

He was asked specific question on sanctions and his answer ( long winded) was that it was complicated issue and is officials were working on it. But its not a simple matter. ( Ukraine anyone?)

He was asked about the ICC warrants and his position as Foreign Secretary

Yet again this is complicated legal matter and up to the courts.

On aid. He cannot possibly know what is happening as there are no journalists there.

He did , as one MP pointed out, say earlier that there was danger of famine

His argument kept on being to sort this out we need a ceasefire. Which he always supported. ?

Bizarre bit when he praised Trump ( when he was President ) for doing the Abraham accords. The so called Normalisation.

He thought this should be re started. Then ( hopefully he said) out of this would come agreement about two state solution. Once Saudi Arabia agreed normalisation deal

Hence this government not supporting recognising Palestine state now.

All his answers avoided the questions and what has happened recently.

Such as the IC ruling the occupation illegal. That has nothing to do with normalisation.

The whole thing was painful to watch.

The Labour MP who asked some good questions was Abtisam Mohamed. Of Arab background

From this I get his policy is working with Trump on Abraham accords, Hamas are evil, Israeli far right racist politicians should be talked with , no serious sanctions regime and Israel's actions ( occupation etc) will be treated differently to Russia.

The fat bastard is pure evil.

I'm just putting my observation based on dealing with real people in my neighbourhood.

Who didn't think the Queen was as you simplistically put it a racist old dog.

So what are you saying? That she was an anti Semite?

As my Black British acquaintances didnt regard her as a "racist old dog"

Not sure what dogs have to do with this.

Live death count of the crimes of the zionist entity: Israel-Gaza war in maps and charts: Live tracker

146 journalists alone.

I honestly had no idea the queen meant so much to you, I'll give it a rest out of respect.

I said I wasn't a monarchist

Your so big on pointing out anti semitism here though I would point out that referring to ANY woman as a dog is sexist

Just thought Id help you out here. As maybe you had not realised that.

If that's ok by you

I think you're confusing 'dog' with 'bitch' or maybe deliberately conflating them to make some point about hypocrisy. Either way I think it's your problem, not mine.

I would have thought as your so up on the subtleties of anti semitism you would have thought calling a woman a Dog isn't really on

But whatever

Its your problem not mine

She said "Former Israeli president Reuven Rivlin says late British monarch thought every Israeli was 'either a terrorist or a son of a terrorist" which is the untruth.

and I checked and the article said "He added: "She refused to accept any Israeli official into [Buckingham] Palace, apart from international occasions"."

Not that I feel too much desire to defend the queen, but is the former Israeli president's version of events to be entirely trusted?

The late Queen did not host Assad, according to the Wikipedia article.
She did host the Shah of Iran.
Bashir al Assad wasn't a 'state' visit, perhaps. Probably just a simple shooting weekend, like eg Jeffrey Epstein had.

But israelis? Too evil. All of them.
