Hamas/Israel conflict: news and discussion

two officers have been sacked the liasion plan wasn't passed onto those operational so what was was the fucking point if the people pulling the trigger arent told oh theres an aid convoy? that we have cleared.

theres no point having plans like this if they arent actually passed to the people who need them.

much like troops in the gulf finding out that hooding prisoners is illegal by accident. now it could be incompetence, deliberate policy but good luck finding proof.
Sacking is a PR stunt only: allows those funding the genocide to continue

FWIW they haven't been sacked either, they've been removed from their posts presumably to be reassigned elsewhere.

Perhaps Alan Duncan would have been wise to keep his mouth shut however the same could have been said about Winston Churchill back in the 30s but It just doesn't do to speak your mind on many subjects these days even if it's the truth.

Nine minutes in goes into Alan Duncan diaries. He say he was up for a top job in government dealing with Middle East issues.

Conservative Friends of Israel and Louise Ellmann MP of Labour Friends of Israel lobbied hard to stop him getting the post.

From his view its that he actually supported government policy that settlement building in West Bank must stop.

That he was not pro Israel enough.

So for him lobby groups like LFI and CFI have to much influence over government.

From looking it was in public media that for example Louise Ellmann said his place in senior position of government of time was concerning. This article. And his position on settlement building is one of them.

On LBC he said this. Which from a Tory I was surprised at:

Speaking on LBC's Nick Ferrari at Breakfast, Sir Alan also called for arms sales to Israel to be stopped "immediately".

"I think that anything in support of what is becoming a total catastrophe in Gaza is morally unacceptable and what we have to accept is it’s not just what they’re doing now is wrong – it’s what Israel has been doing for years has been wrong because the Israeli defence does not follow international law," he said.

"It has been backing and supporting illegal settlers in the West Bank who steal Palestinian land and it is that land theft, that annexation of Palestine, which is the origin of the problem, which has given rise to the Hamas atrocity and the battles we’re seeing."

Well he is right successive Israeli governments since 67 have been allowing and or aiding settlement building. With very little push back from Western governments.

Oh but there is. If I were barlimo I'd find this thread most encouraging.

I would genuinely (I mean this) like to know why you think this. Why is this thread "most encouraging" to anti-semites?

It differs from what I'm seeing. Help me out.

What I see are 12300 posts largely, massively largely, from people who either want to inform about the history (I like your posts on this aspect certainly) or who, like me, rail against injustice, particularly when it tips over into genocide. I see people leading the calls for a ceasefire and to stop arming Israel, something mainstream politicians have only just now started to catch up on.

Of course, in a crowd, you are bound to get the odd idiot shouting shit. On this thread I see them jumped on. How is this welcoming to eg Barlimo, who has been told in no uncertain terms to fuck off by more than one person? Which is what happens every time some idiot shouts 'the Jews'.

"Most encouraging" to anti-semites? I checked, quickly, the top 30 posters. They are responsible for over 2/3 of the posts here. If what you are saying is right, then maybe you can pick out some of those posters who encourage anti-semitism?

It's a genuine question Mojo. I'm quite prepared to listen to where I'm going wrong. It's just that as it stands, labelling the thread as encouraging to anti-semitism to me is a bit insulting to those informed posters, or those outraged posters, who post in good faith and without anti-semitism. And they look like the vast majority to me.

I am not anti Semitic but I am definitely anti Netanyahu and his IDF thugs who are doing their very best to turn ordinary people into anti Semites moreover the actions of the the supposed civilised IDF are so inhuman as be indistinguishable from it's enemies.

Your previous post ("Not surprising as both Labour and Conservative parties are funded by Jews.") suggests that you are definitely antisemitic. I'll add my name to fuck off with that shit.

I think you need to call out people directly when you think something is anti-semitic instead of vague and broad insinuations. It isn't helpful.

Discussion of Israel is always going to be a bit difficult because of the fact it is the only Jewish state in existence. There is no secular Turkey or Indonesia to contrast to the fundamentalist Saudi for instance, so it is easy for the Israeli government to equate criticism of their actions with hostility to Jewish people in general, and it is also easy for anti-semites to hide behind a cloak of anti-zionism.

Because of this, we really need to be specific in calling out anti-semitism and vague insinuations are not helpful at all.

And can I just add...I feel bad for picking out mojo pixy 's post, I like them and they contribute here well. It's just what their post echoed seems to be a reflection of what some other posters have stated (and far worse, I've seen this thread described as a cesspit - which it isn't) as a reason for not posting here. I want posters to post here. Of course, anyone's posting habits are their concern, I can't make them post here, but there are some really notable exceptions not posting here, people whose other stuff I like reading. If they have nothing to say on the subject then 🤷‍♂️ whatever, bit surprising, but I can't make them. If, however, their reasons for not posting are something to do with this thread being an anti-semitic cesspit then...I'd like to see their evidence. Out of the 12300 posts.
