It's an odd article.

Says ICC should concentrate on others not Israel. Then says on civilian deaths and not letting aid in there's a case to answer. Israel as a democratic state should uphold human rights.

So it's not denying what's happening.

It says

A more interesting question to put is how could a western style democracy end up not upholding human rights of civilians.

I thought one of the unsaid plus points of democracy Vs authoritarian state is that , for example,things that are happening in Gaza would be stopped by the democratic state. Democracy is inherently pro human rights. It's common sense that this is so.

It appears having a democratic state does not necessarily lead to human rights being observed.

It's an article in a newspaper owned by Jeff Bezos. He may seem a more liberal and cuddlier oligarch than Musk but he and his outlets represent the views of part ofthe US Establishment.

I've searched the British newspaper archive in vain for details of this event, and altho you'll find a susannah beaty dying in paddington in the second quarter of 1889 the salvation army record her as beatty. The sa are also rather more equivocal as to her death, saying that some people consider her a martyr and rough handling 'at least accelerated' her demise, quote marks on their website. Had a look on the British newspaper archive earlier, couldn't find anything about it so far from persuaded they were a murder army. Incidentally, you never hear much about the months of skeleton riots up and down the city road, down from the angel, in the early 1880s when the salvationists turned the eagle tavern into a temperance bar

I think there was a death in Guildford too. I got a book on the skeleton army though I can't find it at the moment (and it was written by a salvationist: Blood on the Flag). It kicked off all over the place. And they're still proud of the history in Worthing: Skeleton Army | worthingbonfiresociety.org.uk
