Hamas/Israel conflict: news and discussion

What a pleasant organisation UKLFI are. ( UK Lawyers for Israel)

BMA send a letter to government about their concerns over Gaza and UKLFI are all over it.

Counter letter by UKLFI states this:

UKLFI, which also sent its letter to Lord Cameron, explains that when it comes to disregarding international law, it is Hamas that is guilty of this rather than Israel.

So there you have it. BMA have got it all wrong. I looked to see the letter. Added it as pdf. Letter is totally reasonable. I think the problem for Israeli apologists like Jewish Chronicle and UKLFI is that BMA are calling for a ceasefire.

Posted up by The39thStep about Germany but way decent organisations like BMA are targetted by Israeli apologists in this country is quite nasty to say the least.

Saying basically they are Hamas supporters for calling for a ceasefire.

Though to be fair its just about what Starmer argues.

Reason this country has not gone down the road of Germany is not because we are that different. It because ordinary people have been out on the streets despite all the shit thrown at them. Hate marches and all the rest of the shit leveled at people for supporting Palestinians.
Ah, Mark Lewis and Mandy Blumenthal; what a horrible pair.

Jewish wife and relatives! So wonder what that cunt of a prime minister's excuse is.

Yes amazingly enough, being Jewish or having Jewish relatives isn't a guarantee of support for Israel. Especially right now. Starmer would take this position regardless of his wife's religion, because he's got a lot of skin in the "I'm not anti-semitic like old Corbyn was", and because Labour adopted the IHRA definition of A-S which explicitly problematises criticism of Israel.

Pointing to 'Starmer's Jewish relatives' as a reason for his terrible stance is kind of antisemitic btw. So please don't.

Norway calls out those suspending UNRWA funding. Norwegian foreign minister made a comparison with the Metropolitan Police and defunding that because some officers were involved in a crime. It's the obvious comparison to make, but well done to him for making it.

TBF they did defund the Metropolitan Police to the tune of several hundred million a year, and are probably going to do the same again imminently (especially if the Mayor is reelected).

No mention of the idf admission they're pumping sea water into tunnels. Apart from whatever risk people in the tunnels face (and I daresay this was something the hamas designers considered) there's the great danger of poisoning the aquifer under gaza. They make great limbo dancers, the zionists. When you think they can't go any lower they surprise you by achieving it

It's an indictment of Starmer and chums that a Conservative can have a better attitude to the Palestinians.
There are pro-Palestinian tories. Telegraph journo Peter Oborne has championed their cause for years. It's an issue that can cut across left/right, as we have seen. Not just Starmer who's been shit. Bernie Sanders in the US has also been shit.

Sanders has been better recently hasn't he? For example:

That is better, yes. In the early days, he refused to call for a ceasefire and appeared to be sticking to that line.

That's a bit of a red line for me. If you can't straightforwardly call for a ceasefire, what exactly is wrong with you???

The US have sanctioned four leaders of the settler movement. The response is as one might expect:

“The ‘settler violence’ campaign is an antisemitic lie that enemies of Israel disseminate with the goal of smearing the pioneering settlers and settlement enterprise and to harm them and thus smear the entire State of Israel,” Smotrich said.

“This is an immoral BDS campaign that turns victims into attackers and sanctions the spilling of settler blood. It’s too bad the Biden administration is cooperating with these actions,” he added.

A ceasefire solves nothing. Even if there was one starting tomorrow thousands of Palestinians would die from starvation. The sea water in the tunnels will seep into the earth with possibly catastrophic effects. It will take many years to make gaza habitable. And it's not on the cards while bn desires to hold office. I look forward to the Palestinians accepting the zionist surrender.

CBS News (on Pluto) says Biden has signed an executive order to sanction Israeli settlers who attack Palestinians.
Apparently 4 people have been sanctioned so far - though no details of how. Israel objecting.
Biden due on a campaign trip to Michigan shortly (significant Muslim community there apparently)

Yeah, Al Jazeera were reporting on this too earlier this evening.
