UK general election - the U75 poll

Fuck knows, right now.

I'm not sure I even have the same MP, following the boundary changes (I think I do).

There's a good chance I won't know until I'm standing pencil in hand at the ballot box.

And even then it might take a while :hmm:

Traditionally a safe Labour seat, but there's been a lot of anger over LTNs, lots of people saying they will vote Conservative bc of that. So I'm definitely going to vote Labour.

Think you might need to have a word with your cat, tbh :hmm:

some political re-education might be needed

B Kliban cartoon. Two cats are wearing something approximating red army uniforms. One is saying 'mao', the other is inspecting something near a hole in the skirting board, and saying 'mousie dung'

In order to continue my dubious record of never having voted for the winner in any election, I'll be voting Green. I reckon Labour will win in Dover even without my help, somehow.

Lib Dem as there is a slight but real chance of changing the lexicon from Portillo to Hunt, so worth a shot even if I do need to scrub myself with bleach afterwards…
Similar issue here. My ward is a Con/Lib Dem marginal where Labour doesn't stand any chance at all. The 'Hold your nose and vote Labour' thread makes me chuckle. Here you don't even get that choice ...

Other. We have a good Independent candidate here. She was Labour and won here a few years ago. It was a Conservative stronghold (Portillo, Rifkind) but they hated their own MP so much that they told their followers to vote her out.

She lost last time but only by 150 votes, so could win again, as disaffected tories might cast a protest vote for an Independent.

That's my plan, anyway.

Not my first choice and it's a safe seat for them, but I'll be voting labour here in Lambeth. I normally always vote tactically and that's the best chance I have of giving the tories a bloodier nose when it comes down to the final "how many votes?!" tally; a vote for anyone else won't make a dent here. My partner - their first GE as they were a stinkin' furriner at the last one - will likely be doing the same.

Basically, this. Same reason I made sure to vote for Khan in the mayoral elections, clearly due to my hatred of Freedom and love of sharia law no-go LTNs rather than my distaste for Susan Hall's particular brand of inept loonspuddery. Male Parent Unit thankfully didn't ask if I was going to vote for Lawrence Fox this time, maybe that means even the torygraph's gone off him.

I mention this solely because I think this is going to be a very nastily fought campaign, and if it doesn't emerge in the gutter press tomorrow that Keir Starmer can't get a hard-on unless he strangles a kitten, then it's going to be "labour will bring on 15-minute city gulags/pay-per-mile, compulsory cycling and a 25mph speed limit on the motorways" and all the rest of the car conspiracies that were apparently doing the rounds (and apparently being believed by many) in the run-up to the mayoral election.

Unfortunate choice for some people in the Brixton area.

Boundary changes mean some of us can vote for current Labour MP, Bell Ribero-Addy, a member of the socialist campaign group and essentially a decent MP. Her "Streatham" seat is being abolished and split into "Brixton Hill & Clapham" (where Addy is standing) and "Streatham & Croydon North", where the hated Steve Reed, former leader of Lambeth Council, is standing.

The other bit of Brixton is being turned into "Vauxhall & Camberwell Green" where current Labour Vauxhall MP Flo Eshalomi is standing.

Literally a postcode lottery.

Mine is a solid Tory safe seat, they could parachute roadkill in, bung a blue tie on and prop it up in front of their bloody tree logo and it would win. Having said that, when they replaced Cameron with the latest shower, the majority dropped.

I’ll probably vote Lib Dem as the candidate is a current district councillor with a decent track record for constituents. Won’t make a blind bit of difference though

Bit too self centred and selfish to fit into that category imo. Their putting their needs before anyone else’s and treating their human providers as inferior beings are core Tory values.
Not much class solidarity in cats tbf.

But they have transcended the Lord - Serf relationship.

God tier shlt ;)

I live overseas so I probably won't go to the trouble of getting a ballot paper.

To be frank, I don't have a high opinion of politicians.

Other - I don't have ID, I've been in a hellish ID black hole for over a decade, and have been disenfranchised.
Even if I wanted to go and spoil my ballot paper, I would not be allowed to.

I think my only way of getting a say will be when we storm parliament, although at that point I might need someone to push me in a wheelchair!

Greens.

The electoral calculus website predicts the Tories coming in 4th place in my constituency (after Reform and Greens) and gives Labour a 100% chance of victory so there is no chance of the vermin getting in. Would be nice to see the Greens in second place though to put some pressure on Labour from the left.
