The Ashes 2023

Bazball aggression isn't an excuse for poor shot selection and execution. well it shouldn't be. at least he got his 50.

Seem to remember an Aussie bowler who tackled a (non political) pitch invader and crocked his shoulder. Was out for a couple of games.

Trying to clobber all these short balls seems like a great way to get them to keep bowling short balls at you.
Yep, 'here's the obvious trap we've set, the one that kept working yesterday, when your lot kept falling into the obvious trap. What's your approach this morning?'
- We'll carry on falling into your trap please.
'Well, thankyou very much'

What stewards are employed to do.
Sportspeople don't have to grandstand as "Have-a-go-heroes"

Except that the protesters were intent on getting on the pitch and stopping the game. The players were already there, the stewards had to run on.

I don't agree anyway - leave it to the authorities? Nah, take responsibility if you feel you should and can help. I hate the thinking that somehow our security and wellbeing is the job of somebody else.

Can, kind of, understand it, feeling annoyed at the interruption and all that, but yeah, exactly that. Also, I suspect they will have been briefed about the possibility of JSO protesters given the high profile events they've invaded recently. That briefing would have been 100% 'leave it to the stewards'.

Security and wellbeing. Armed was he, this fella?

We'll not agree here, clearly.
It was a stupid and rash decision which, as Wilf just said, almost certainly went against protocol/advice for these professional sportspeople, and instantly attained political support from very unsavoury quarters, whether Bairstow wanted it or not.
Foolish, impulsive and macho.

Shut up Broggers, you plum. If Bairstow had tackled a right wing protestor you'd be genuflecting in admiration and queuing-up to polish his ringpiece. You're just upset because he marched off one of your mates, you old hypocrite! :D

What is JSO's point in these protests? If their main point is to provide visibility for the cause they advocate, which it is, Bairstow provided them with the iconic image to go on all the newspaper front pages. They should be thanking him.

A bit of powder can be swept off. Bairstow should have kept out of it, instead he exposed his reactionary politics.

Wellbeing as in the game being stopped, potentially ended.

Sorry I don't go along with this po-faced 'leave it to the stewards' crap. Poor fucking stewards, what magic powers are they supposed to possess anyway?
I've only just seen the clip of this and seen how far he carried the bloke. Whatever threat was perceived at the start of the invasion, carrying him all the way off was something else. Maybe once he started carrying him he thought he'd look a div if he then put him down 20 yards on, but still, all a bit daft. I'm not really that fussed either way, tbh, but whilst Bairstow's annoyance might have been justified, I'm struggling to see him as the last line of defence against the eco-menace. ;)

I feel we now need a 10 page diversion on Stokes battering those blokes to 'defend the gay lads'.

I fucking love cricket but it is just a sport. The impending global catastrophe that change life as we know is more important. Just
Sure. Does that mean you have to want JSO to succeed in ending sporting contests?

There's some utter bollocks being spoken here. Don't you care about climate change, Jonny, you monster?????

No he fucking didn't. He carried a protester intent on stopping the match off the pitch. nothing to do with his politics at all ffs.

Yes it does. Bairstow earlier in the match in the team bus was giving it the pub bore slagging off the protestors. That is the tell.

Has this last 24 hours been the worst couple of sessions for the whole Bazball period?
