Ukraine and the Russian invasion, 2022-24

Not going to look for this video but it doesn’t sound good for the Russians involved:

I read on another thread that Russian media have done a rare frontline piece from Hostemel. Not sure if this is the right vid or not so apols if it's not. Looks like it was probably shot when they first hit the airport and has been released now the Ukrainians have paid a visit.

The Ukrainian vid shows a load of russian trucks with tyres shot out and some buildings on fire.

Not sure even if they gained control of the airport again how feasable if would be to get anything in and out of there given the situation on the ground but then what do I know from my computer in Wales.

Calling the war a war is now a felony punished by up to 15 years in prison. Novaya Gazeta is taking its coverage down to protect its staff and readers.
I read that earlier. The propaganda machine is in full warp speed now.

There was talk about mass demonstrations on Sunday. Have you heard anything about that Froggy?

Doesn‘t really show much at all, the same 5-second clip looped which shows some apparently undamaged trucks with something on fire in the background.

There was a several minute long video of destroyed Russian tanks someone posted the other day, which was just one tank shown several times from different angles. There seems to be a bit of this clumsy deception going on in a few of these videos, seems like crap propaganda/exaggeration. Take it with a pinch of salt.

Oh yes, definitely. I actually found the looped soundtrack to that vid a bit odd. Like if you played it backwards it would say James Blunt isn't a cunt.

Obviously tongue in cheek but on a serious note sanctions should hurt. If his decisions mean a failing economy then so be it. It looks as if he's thinking China's got him covered. Of course he won't think it's his fault. The worst of sanctions, against his energy exports, haven't even been flirted with yet. If that happens Russia will be a bad place to be.

This is a massive climb down from his original demands

Maybe this has been his Bond villain game all along. Send in the most depleted part of his army like some sort of sacrificial part exchange, batter the fuck out of the Ukrainian infrastructure, leave the place on it's knees, hit the back pocket of the west and then just go for annexing the Russian separatists areas of Ukraine where he can place Nukes for future reference.

Then it can all calm down and pretty shortly after everyone's going to want some of his candy down the pipeline again

Not sure if this was posted before.

A western journalist interviewed people in Crimea around the time of the change over after the referendum. Early on in the interviews you hear criticism of Ukraine and nationalism...however as time passes their attitude changes from relative happiness at rejoining Russia to realising within a short time that their lives were and are far worse off under Russian rule.

You can see why Ukraine wants nothing to do with Russia.

Apols if off topic. And can edit if its not appropriate.

If control of the narrative within Russia is really effective & really important (as it sounds like it is) , is there a chance he might decide to settle for just declaring victory, on tv at home, regardless of the situation on the ground, wind up the whole operation and try (succeed in a short while probably) to get international relations back to something like they were before?

He's not controlling things so he can stop. It's the opposite.

That would be good, which means its probably not going to happen :(

No

had to endure a witless colleague repeating Russian propaganda about crisis actors in fake videos of injured civilians. Can’t deal with that shit or articulate that they getting their news wrong, so had to just walk away
On a self preservation point sometimes it's better not engaging with them than losing your shit and dealing with the lid being lifted off your real feelings of what's going on in the world. Some people are just thick mate.

Christ, I can understand people swallowing some some state propaganda but this crisis actor bollocks always amazes me. There's a war on and people get bombed so why the fuck would a crisis actor be required? Even if such a thing exists in the first place. Do they think the yanks reanimated Stanley Kubrick's corpse to film fake European war scenes in New Jersey or summat? It boggles the mind.

He’s not even pro-Russian or anything. Just anti-MSM or summat. But yeah thick as mince as well.
I’ve also had a staff member showing me videos of things I don’t want to see. Again, they’re not checking the validity of their sources, but what’s really out of order is trying to show people violence when they’ve asked you not to, esp at work in a public place ffs

He's some bastard.
😡

Like he can just roll on up now and say it will all be ok cos once we get our states we will leave the rest of ye alone. Pinky promise...

What does he take people for?
Complete idiots?

Anything is possible.
But he has lost a lot of support and his time as president is now limited. IMO.
I think (admittedly this is conjecture) that he is a dead man walking and has been for some time.

think that might be putins problem his shortsightedness to forget that its not 40 years ago

most people young enough to fight against his action have no memory of living under the soviet regime

dudes what 70, sadly the opposite happened in the states
