Ukraine and the Russian invasion, 2022-24

Ok.
So if Trump withdraws the weapons pipeline is irrelevant because it's Russia's war.
If Germany cut their arms budget it makes no difference because it's Russia's war.
Starmer not supplying missiles makes no difference because it's Russia's war.

It will mean Russia wins.

_Russ_ - I remind you that Russia has form for blowing up dams / flooding areas as a defensive move ...
Do I need to list more than the Khakovka Dam ?
Didn't Ukraine blow one up as well? I have searched but with all the claims and counter claims about other dams and not remembering the name I can't find it. IIRC it was reported at least initially in the mainstream press, not just by RT and other shitshows, as being destroyed by Ukraine.

Yes they blew one up near Kyiv IIRC near the beginning. Denying areas of manoeuvre to the Russians.

I know what the source I quoted is. Hit me with some alternative or perhaps STFU
You've made a fool of yourself by blindly parroting Russia propaganda and throwing your toys out of the pram and getting all sweary isn't going to make you look any better.

It's interesting - and I put it no higher than that, because I know how quick politicians are to ditch any previously held view when the whiff of power/status comes along - that Trump has appointed Marco Rubio as his Secretary of State.

Despite being a pretty excretiable human being, Rubio has been supportive of Ukraine, pretty anti-Russia, and while echoing every US politician ever in the criticism of the burden sharing in NATO, isn't one of the hyper-isolationists.

It might indicate that the deal - and I certainly agree one is coming, Trump wants this over, or at least parked - might not be so quite to Putin's taste as had been feared.

Still might be, obviously...

Sigh still no attempt to address my question and yet more playing the man with some added projection.

We can Hope, I suppose it largely depends on whether or not Trump Listens to this particular appointment, something which seems wholly dependent on how often they flatter, agree with and suck up to him, together with how much backbone Rubio has.....Hmmm

Russia's attacks on Ukraine's electricity system seem to have increased over the past few days. As Dogsauce commented long range strikes into Russia is one of the few bargaining chips that Ukraine might have . Has Russia gambled on that not happening or feels it is likely to happen before Trump's inauguration?

Whatever the reasons winter without electricity is going to be horrendous, especially on the old, vulnerable and families with children in the more at risk areas. This could also increase the flow of refugees.

Livemap reports that 120 missiles and 90 drones were fired "last night / this morning" and 140 targets shot down by air defence ie most missiles and about half the drones. Targets were largely civilian energy infrastructure.

There'll be a further need this winter for "standby" and portable generators ...

Does Ukraine's energy superstructure have dedicated supplies for non-civilian energy for arms factories, military complexes etc or is it all the same source?

A response to Scholtzs phone call.

Reactions: CH1
so weakness to Putin and see his response

must be wetting himself in anticipation of trumps inauguration

Quite a thoughtful piece in Politico about Trump and Ukraine which raises some questions/contemplation

Like this one:

Of course, this means Russian President Vladimir Putin’s thuggishness will be rewarded, that there will be no accountability for the bestial nature of his army’s atrocious behavior or the unlawful, detestable deportations from occupied parts of Ukraine to Russia. The axis of autocrats will be emboldened in their determination to smash the old global order.

"Russia's attacks on Ukraine's electricity system" are war crimes under the Geneva Convention to which it is a signatory. Why is the the whole world turning a blind eye to these flagrant war crimes?

THEY DON'T HAVE USABLE NUKES.

Fuck America's approval or not, Europe has long range missiles that have already been donated, let them bloody well use them. Destroy St Basil's today, about time Lenin was cremated. Make a fucking statement. This is Europe's future being challenged here, the US hegemony we have relied upon is spent with Trump's re-election, now is the time to grow a pair and do what is needed.

But no one listens to me, that's why I drink.

hick
