Ukraine and the Russian invasion, 2022-24

Europe seems a flexible concept, apparently the UK is not part of Europe except when it is, as the EU seems to be analogous to Europe for some, which seems unfair to the Norwegians, Swiss and others
It's a racist concept. Anywhere on the Earth's main landmass that is predominantly white and Christian is Europe. The bit where people have darker skin, and or are predominately not Christian is Asia.

Broadly, not totally. Money matters. See Uefa Champions League.

You don't think the people that actually live there are meaningful?
Yes I'm being facetious and I get what you're saying, but I also don't see any path to such a vote not being considered legitimate by the international community.
I'm by no means sure the most relevant member/s of the ic would recognise its validity.

More importantly, what did the Ukrainian people want?

You need to rewrite this in slightly more tortuous form in order to account for Siberia.

Russian General makes Great Escape to Heaven, whilst pottering round Donbass on a motorbike. kebabking are British generals as stupid as this?

Depends on your definition of stupid - riding on a motorcycle isn't necessarily stupid - it's light, fast, very manoeuvrable, much less likely to attract enemy attention than a tank or a rocket launcher, it's much easier to go off road and so avoid things like mines and choke points like junctions which are prone to air and artillery attacks. On the other hand it has no protection whatsoever, so if you are attacked, you're fucked.

Also depends on whether this was a random attack that just happened to get him, or he was targeted because he'd been silly with radio discipline or making a cult of personality as 'the general who rides about on a motorbike' which the Ukrainians found out about.

Everything has a down side - if he'd gone about in a 1000 ton tank convoy in order to be protected, the Ukrainians would have seen it from the moon, and known that only a senior commander would get such protection - making it worthwhile to batter the fuck out of it with artillery.

You pays your money...

Putin's hands are dripping with blood. All these poor lives wasted.

Russia has suffered its worst ever month for casualties since the start of the war in Ukraine, the UK chief of defence staff has told the BBC.

Admiral Sir Tony Radakin said Russia’s forces suffered an average of about 1,500 dead and injured "every single day" in October, bringing its losses to 700,000 since the war began in February 2022.

Russia does not disclose the number of its war dead, but Western defence officials have said October's death toll was the heaviest so far.

In an interview with BBC One's Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg programme, Sir Tony said the Russian people were paying an "extraordinary price" for Putin's invasion.

Anyone found confirmation that Ukraine destroyed the Dam?, must have been a hard decision to make

"According to Russian news outlets, including pravda.ru, Ukrainian forces may have deliberately destroyed the Ternovskaya dam to slow down Russian advancements..."

Awesome source there, comradeski.

_Russ_ - I remind you that Russia has form for blowing up dams / flooding areas as a defensive move ...
Do I need to list more than the Khakovka Dam ?

It was an Honest Question, but I see like most regulars here you can't resist playing the man and getting a dig in.
If anyone has definitive info perhaps they could post it.
