Ukraine and the Russian invasion, 2022-24

I guess it makes a change to see you harassing a boke on here rather than the women.

Calling out a stupid and ill informed post isn't harassment.

Then again, you'd know all about harassing women here.

Telling their partners to keep them in line.

Every accusation from you is an admittance to your ways.

You'll be able to quote me doing that then.

Carry on.
Really really think it would destroy the last of your tawdry credibility if I posted up your well documented bullying of Rutita1 here.

But, in fairness, this is a derail, so will put you back on ignore.

Apologies for replying to the bait, everyone.

does mutual ignore only work if you can resist reading and replying to the other member of the mutual ignore

if you have no self control it pretty pointless exercise

but then again so is winning the interwebz

NATO: China has become 'decisive enabler' of war in Ukraine...

It is the first time all the group's allies have stated this so clearly in a statement approved by all 32 members of the alliance at the NATO summit in Washington.

Needless to say..China denies this.

"Beijing insists that it does not provide military aid to Russia but has maintained strong trade ties with its northern neighbour throughout the conflict. It also accuses NATO of overreaching and inciting confrontation in the Indo-Pacific region."

So ... what's that about??? NATO just puffing up its feathers?

No, not at all. But they do enhance their capability on the defensive quite a lot. More powerful airborne radars to detect incoming strikes, and a limited capacity to shoot some down. It will keep Russian pilots on their toes and reduce the amount of time they spend near the front lines. It's just not enough to make an offensive difference in the theatre as it is. Russian air defence is still too strong to loiter near the lines. (and HIMARS is having an impact, but there is a lot of Russian air defence, not to mention the F-16s can't stand 1:1 vs. the MiG-31s at range)

Storm Shadow range - approx 250 km / 155 miles to 550 km / 340 miles.
I assume that might depend on configuration / fuel load ... and how they were launched.

Ukraine claimed these were used to inflict specific damage to the BSF HQ in Sevastapol and the dry-docked "Rostov on Don" submarine ...

Say, what's the range of a Storm Shadow? Could they hit the Kremlin, or Putin's palace on the Black Sea shore?
Doesn't matter, because despite Starmer giving the nod, Biden still says "no targetting Russia with NATO long-range weapons."

NATO's timid piecemeal response has been such a gift to Russia. If the alliance's full effort had been made right from the start, the war could well have been over by now. Instead it's been drip drip drip and Russia has had plenty of time to adapt to each new weapon or capability.

There's a good quote in this WSJ article:

For Ukraine, time is an essential factor—and the carefully limited and gradual introduction of many Western systems has provided Russia with the ability to minimize their impact. "Warfare is about the speed of adaptation," said retired Air Marshal Edward Stringer, a former head of operations at the British Ministry of Defense. "If you drip-feed an antibiotic weekly, you'll actually train the pathogen—and we have trained the pathogen….We didn't need to give them that time, but we did."
