Decolonise colons!
that's what I thought, reading the letter.
Bob Geldof said:We must reform and restructure the EU. When Europe is in a mess, the Brits get stuck in. They don’t withdraw, they double down.

Given that the fucking government still can't decide what form Brexit is going to take, most definitely yes.You think people voting for Brexit didn’t know it was going to make importing and exporting trickier?
This is why remain lost.Given that the fucking government still can't decide what form Brexit is going to take, most definitely yes.
You've lost me here. For myself, as a remain voter, I'm struggling to think what issue would be below the needs of the music industry in the whole Brexit kerfuffle - availability of Himalayan Rock Salt perhaps...?
really?I'm struggling to think what issue would be below the needs of the music industry
Yeah. Keeping out foreigners. But the point is still the same. What additional thing does Geldof think he is giving to this debate that will suddenly change anything for anyone? People already knew that exporting was going to become harder. They already knew that importing was going to become harder. They knew that. They found that other factors were more important.

I don't see anything in kabbes post that suggested he was talking about how musicians voted.

He’s saying that musicians are rather overstating in their own minds how much people care about them when they are deciding on the merits of widespread political and economic upheaval. You've lost me here.

Plenty of leave talking heads were saying that we wouldn't be leaving the single market, so no.You think people voting for Brexit didn’t know it was going to make importing and exporting trickier?

yeh. but leaving the eu didn't necessarily mean leaving the eeaBollocks.
Pretty much 'leave' voter I've discussed Brexit with knew and understood that the loss of the Single Market would make selling and buying harder and more expensive - they just either didn't care, or cared more about other things.
So you say. Doesn’t change the point though, does it? If Geldof thinks that his letter is adding a single idea to the debate, he’s living in aa different planet. Well, I suppose he is a rock star so maybe that’s a given. We should know better, though.Yeah. Keeping out foreigners.
Oh, well then, that makes ALL the difference.he didn't say musicians, he said music industry.
Not so I say, so various polls after the vote say wrt the things that were important factors in the vote. Number one important factor among people who voted leave was keeping out foreigners. Not all leave voters, but more than half.So you say. Doesn’t change the point though, does it? What’s that got to do with Geldof’s letter other than, if it is true, reinforcing my point? Not so I say, so various polls after the vote say wrt the things that were important factors in the vote. it does make a diff when talking about the egos of musos.Oh, well then, that makes ALL the difference.

yeh, it's one of those letters where you just want to change the words.it does make a diff when talking about the egos of musos.
fwiw, I thought Geldof's pretty weak and not-thought-through. but to dismiss an entire industry because of it misses the point.
You've lost me here.
really?
yeh, it's one of those letters where you just want to change the words.
eg 'I, Bob Geldof would love to single-handedly stop Brexit for the sake of my very own ego'yeh, it's one of those letters where you just want to change the words.
Then I don't give a flying fuck about your opinions on the matter, you soulless void.Take myself perfectly clear, I give more shits about how other people choose to piss than I give about the music industry and it's travails, indeed I give more shits about the colour of the upstairs curtains at 17 Bedford Crescent, Merthyr Tydfil* than I do about the music industry and it's travails.
*I have no idea if 17 Bedford Crescent, Merthyr Tydfil exists, or what colour curtains it has...
I dearly wish it was someone else articulating the thoughts contained in that letter.eg 'I, Bob Geldof would love to single-handedly stop Brexit for the sake of my very own ego'
then maybe this debate isn't for you.Take myself perfectly clear, I give more shits about how other people choose to piss than I give about the music industry and it's travails, indeed I give more shits about the colour of the upstairs curtains at 17 Bedford Crescent, Merthyr Tydfil* than I do about the music industry and it's travails.

to be fair, he has a point in his letter. but it's conveyed in such a shit way he'd have done better to keep quiet. theresa may is not a musical person. so you need to put the point in ways she will respond well to, and going on about rock 'n roll to the worst dancer in british political history isn't really the way to do it.eg 'I, Bob Geldof would love to single-handedly stop Brexit for the sake of my very own ego'
