I still don't really understand the logic of this scenario, from a Tory POV*. Wouldn't the best thing for them to be to let Sunak go down with the ship, take the flak, and then start 'fresh' after the election. Wouldn't chucking Sunak just make them look even more out of control at this stage?





*I know, I know, but generally they'll act with at least some self-interest...

It makes sense if you are a red wall MP who thinks that enough red meat (hang immigrants? Ban woke A-levels?) would save your seat and that Cruella is just the ticket. The motivation is to save one’s own job, not Sunak’s.

Oh aye, I don't think anyone's looking to save Sunak's job. Rather more that I'm surprised anyone else would want it, pre-election.
