Operation pillar of cloud. Israeli assault on Gaza

It's not up to you when the best time and place for any particular discussion is.

Hamas have a track record of making mainly very bad decisions that have made the lot of the average Gazan very miserable. To cheer them on with unquestioning fervour every time they choose to stick their cocks in a hornets' nest in the cause of irrational nationalist egoism is a betrayal of the Palestinian people.

Who was it who killed Yasser Arafat after years of house arrest and made it possible for Hamas to step into the gap left by Fatah in Gaza?

Some cynics would even suggest it was in Israel's interest to have Hamas replace Fatah, as it makes it more politicially palatable to justfy genocidal policies towards Gaza.

From Haaretz.
The memory of the aggressive Israeli response in the last days of 2008, which underlined the real balance of power between the two sides, is still vivid in Hamas' memory, and it appears that the organization has no particular desire to return to the battlefront. Islamic Jihad is also sitting by quietly, for now.
Hamas being "pushed" into conflict?

Egyptian military mobilising its forces too.

This quote here from the ex head of Shin Bet sent a shiver down my spine

Israel’s “Minister of Home Front Defense” [Avi Dichter] says Gaza must be “reformatted” as if it were a computer hard drive, just like Israel did in the West Bank in 2002 during a series of massacres it called “Operation Defensive Shield.”
Dichter is a former head of Israel’s Shin Bet assassination organization, which claimed responsibility for killing of al-Jabari.
Israel’s Ynet reported in Hebrew that Dichtersaid in a closed meeting, in the course of his visit in the south under the escalation, that “there is no other choice, Israel must carry out a formatting action in Gaza, actually format the system and clean it out, the way we did in Judea & Samaria during Operation Defensive Shield.” Dichter added that it is only in this way that the military deterrence will return.

It's desperately hopeless and depressing that Israel's now using exactly the kind of language regarding Palestinians that caused the events which led the state of Israel to be formed. Abused becomes the abuser. And who the fuck gives a PTSD victim a shitload of guns and human punchbag anyway? For fucks sake.

Gaza rocket-fire kills three Israelis

Three people have been killed in southern Israel by rockets fired from Gaza, amid escalating violence.

It marks the first Israeli fatalities since militants fired into Israel after it killed Hamas' military commander in an air strike on Wednesday.

Eleven Palestinians, including militants, have been killed in the ensuing Israeli operation. More than 50 rockets hit Israel overnight.

The Israelis were killed in a strike on a house in the town of Kiryat Melachi.

Interesting that the Israelis are not militants.

You can post what you want but I reserve the right to treat it with contempt. Your argument, at this time, amounts to blaming the victims of aggression for Israel's actions.

RIght now the resistance has little choice but to fire rockets, to do otherwise is to surrender in the face of Israeli attack. Whether rockets are fired in retaliation or not Israel would find another justification for their assault. To Israel, all resistance is unacceptable whatever form it takes, Palestinians have to behave like defeated animals forever or be blown to bits.

Guardian liveblog reporter says the death of the three israelis will lead to escalation, as if it's the Palestinians fault.

As if an air, sea and land strike by Israel wasn't escalation, provocation etc

It's the Hamas strategy leader's funeral today. What are the chances they get a drone strike? After all, IDF twitter - the second most soulles twitter after Donald Trump, has told all Hamas members to keep their heads down. I can easily see them justifying it as a way of removing the power structure. The violation of the funeral would be huge though.

:( three dead israelis hamas' "comedy rockets" finally score :(
Hence more dead palestininans and repeat.

Both leaderships are pretty good at moustache twirling evil except hamas's favorite uncle who doles out the shiny new toys is shopping in pound land weapons store
And uncle sam shops at designer death boutique :(

Guardian are the same. The Israelis are running a huge social media/blogging campaign to support their side.
