Operation pillar of cloud. Israeli assault on Gaza

My god... how do you begin to try and broker any kind of peace with attitudes like this

Yes, well I dunno really. With this in mind, please take a bit of time to watch this vid. I thought of posting it in the football sub-forum but as I am not even remotely a football fan I thought better of it. I don't wish to derail the thread, so if anyone thinks it is worthy of further discussion, perhaps another thread would be appropriate.

really interesting. La Familia seem like a kind of Israeli EDL.

Anyway whilst the above imo gives a certain amount of background to the Israeli psyche, in Gaza right now they are enjoying shells from the sea:

mosaaberizing
Israeli warships have now started their regular after-midnight shelling on Gaza.

Good photographer btw.... and also from a random Irish bloke and entirely pertinent:

Trying to imagine what the world reaction would have been had the Royal Navy started shelling the Bogside from Lough Foyle in 1972.

Its also worth watching that video because you can see how the arab spring broke one of the pillars he built his position on.

Thanks I will, just not tonight, I am raging already and it will already cause insomnia. Gonna wind down now and pick it up tomorrow.

Jerusalem post calls for the mass murder of Gazan civilians . They are fucking insane

There is no justification for the State of Gaza being able to shoot at our towns with impunity. We need to flatten entire neighborhoods in Gaza. Flatten all of Gaza. The Americans didn’t stop with Hiroshima – the Japanese weren’t surrendering fast enough, so they hit Nagasaki, too.

There should be no electricity in Gaza, no gasoline or moving vehicles, nothing. Then they’d really call for a ceasefire.

Were this to happen, the images from Gaza might be unpleasant – but victory would be swift, and the lives of our soldiers and civilians spared.

something better than a full-stop to put in here:

Beltrew
Almost 400 of us, mostly Egyptian activists in AlShifa hospital #gaza for solidarity rally. We got convoy through rafah, who would've thought?

and of course holding the nuclear ace although deploying that in situ would be mental you can't discount the reaction of some state that feels cornered.

I'm no military mind, I played a game of medal of honour once, but how much value do the reservists have really? Surely drafts from a mandatory service x amount of years ago are likely to be shit outs who want to go home, right now
Reserve service lasts until you're 43, IIRC, with 4-8 weeks of active service a year.

It's not a spoiler but it's a difficult picture to look at so be warned.

they're dead

The buzzing of the drones is quite apparent on the live feed right now.

http://rt.com/on-air/israel-gaza-live/

I believe this feed is actually provided via AP, its not RT's own. I note that Harry Fear was using it earlier, cropping off the watermarks, and AlJazeera were linking to Harry as their live feed (They've not been good for live coverage themselves at all so far)

Not sure if anyone has mentioned the Vice documentary which came out in July, 2012. Very interesting, talks about rockets and israeli response attacks.
