I've walked off accidently from my phone and the first I've known about it is when my airpods disconnected. I've also deliberately done so if I'm in a safe enough environment.

I don't have airpods and I'm sure I'm not the only one I have plug in ear phones so I don't walk away without my phone either dropping to the ground or dangling from them while I panic about my phone about to be dropped.

Why not? Maybe nearest bushes and maybe a slight incline that also hides you from view and maybe that contributed to falling in. Don't know of course but don't act like it's some crazy improbability

If you've got your phone on speaker, you need to pick it up, take it off speaker mode (because it's weird having noise come out your pocket), possibly need to close the app you're using (I don't know how teams works). It's just easier leaving it on the bench... The risk of some random suddenly appearing from meters away to steal your phone in a quiet village is miniscule.

Loads of women I know do exactly that though when out walking in the country, maybe she used the river bank or bushes alongside it as some cover? Anyway, it's just one theory as to how she might have fallen in the river.

I've been in the company of women who do, as in somewhere like this where there's some chance of a passer-by but not much, maybe that's a country thing too? Though obviously i was there to give a warning of anyone approaching.

Speaking for myself yes i doubt whether she fell in the river.I have lived near to a similar river for much of my life and afaik the last person to fall in and drown was driving a horse and cart
by which i mean to say it wasnt this century or the last.
