*IRAQ: latest news and developments

Retired General Jay (James) Gardner, fully paid up and active member of JINSA is to be Governor General of Iraq, although to begin with he is supposed to be assisting General Franks! Gardner and his team have already taken up positions in Qatar.

This situation akin to appointing a KKK garn wizard charged with running an African country, with a view to setting up of the next leg of the Operation “US will annex the world”, with the angle on $$$$TAYYRRRRORRRISM$$$$!

Can anyone find “Perel’s Plunder Blunder” (could be in New York Times)?

Iraq shows dead and captured U.S. soldiers

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Iraqi television has shown film of at least four bodies, said to be U.S. soldiers, and five prisoners who say they are American.

Two of the prisoners, including a woman, appeared to be wounded. One was lying on the floor on a rug.

They were the first U.S. prisoners known to have been taken by Iraq. The prisoners were questioned on air and gave their names, military identification numbers and home towns.

"I am with my men in Basra, we continue to defend the people and riches" of the town, Colonel Khaled al-Hashemi, commander of the 51st Mechanized Division, told the satellite television channel Al-Jazeera.

BBC website is giving reports on the ticker of outbreaks of fighting around Irbil in northern Iraq.

US general says fewer than 10 US troops are missing in Iraq.

sorry but i hope it's in the right thread.
over the day i had problems to get access to newssites in the usa (broadband, location germany).
no problems with english sites, tough.
just read on an german newssite that reporters from countries wich do not support the war are excluded, or only get little information from the us and british forces.

question: can you get in england easy access to cnn & co?

No problem in the UK, I imagine all the news sites are pretty busy though.

Defense Secretary Donald reminded Iraq about the Geneva Convention, which deals with treatment of prisoners of war. He said, "It's illegal to do things to POWs that are humiliating to those prisoners."

(from keefor's link)

So it's ok to show Iraqi POWs, but not US ones? Stunning hypocrisy.

Reports Iraq Tv (1750Z) that US Forces abandoned dead comrades after a battle in Nassariyah..

Claims of 10 tanks destroyed (no confirmation on either count)

Just received this in an email - anyone know anything else about it?

*The sinister report is that the US-UK forces have cut off the water and
power supply to Basra although their troops have bypassed it. Hospitals and
emergency services have been without power or water for 48h. The power
station and water pumping system are behind US-UK lines. The International
Red Cross have engineers in Basra whom they would like to send out to make
repairs if the cut off is 'inadvertent'. If it was planned it is a breach
of the conventions. *

[Defense Secretary Donald reminded Iraq about the Geneva Convention, which deals with treatment of prisoners of war. He said, "It's illegal to do things to POWs that are humiliating to those prisoners."]

*Rumsfeld's tactics to torture & kill prisoners of war has been widely reported in the world's news media, specifically the 2 prisoners that were murdered by US while in a prisoner camp.

Doesn't this now present a reason for no other country to follow GENEVA Convention for treatment of POWs since the US under Bush/Rumsfeld has tortured POWs to death?

Bush & Rumsfeld actions have now directly made any US soldier taken prisoner more subject to death while captured, DOES IT NOT ?*
