Donald Trump - MAGAtwat news and discussion

With Trump, you are constantly nipping between layers of preposterousness, but this seems to be a cabinet made purely of provocation. The papers are talking about loyalty being the key and that might be a similar thing when it comes to Trump. But sheesh, if you were to design a cabinet based on who would blow a collective gasket in the civilised bit of humanity, this is it. Really hard to see if this is just a fuck you, but he's got to realise that these people need to be able to deliver something. Maybe we just hadn't realised quite how insane the Trump 2 project is. I say 'Trump 2' largely because I've been too depressed to read up about Project 2025, but this is Trump 2. It's something he's doing and is about his, yuk, legacy. If it was a sitcom, you'd still find it distasteful, but fucking hell, an actual thing?
Why though? He doesn't care if anything gets delivered except money to his pockets. He couldn't give a shit otherwise. This idea that the people he puts in need to deliver something is just wrong. They don't, so long as Trump gets his.

This piece from Richard Murphy agrees that Trump is very unlikely to be able to deliver on any of the promises he's made.

So the main question is what will happen once that becomes clear to many of those who voted for him.

Very little most of his voters either won't notice, won't care or will blame it on someone else.

Elections are tight so maybe it will just swing things back in the favour of the Dems, but I wouldn't want to bet on it.

Yes interesting to see whether there's rampant inflation and a dollar collapse. I'm still not sure it will help the Democrats if Republicans get their acts together at state level and gerrymander and throw out large numbers of Democrat voters.

He only has to deliver on promises made to Putin. The American people don't matter. In fact, the less he delivers the better in terms of the promises made to Putin. His cabinet selection is only a reflection of these promises, which is to incapacitate the US state from within. It is a disaster by design.

Elections? How quaint. They will be a thing of the past. He did say vote for me and you will never have to vote again.

This is like a DC Comics storyline where all the baddies join force and step out with the joker. A line of gibbering freaks, nonce's, pet killers and the very worst of the human psyche.

Only light moment is the one who sends storms to attack her enemies is left at home sulking.

He didn't mean there would be no more elections just that he would fix everything.

As bad as things are there won't be an end to elections, not in 4 years. It won't even get to the sham elections you get in Russia in four years. They will do what they can to stack the deck in their favour but 4 years from now there will still be an election the Republicans can loose. What happens after that if they do is another question. And 8 or 12 years from now? Who knows could maybe be Russian style elections by then.

Or that scene from Blazing Saddles where Hedley Lamarr lists the sort of ne'r-do-wells he wants for his little army.
"I want rustlers, cut throats, murderers, bounty hunters, desperados, mugs, pugs, thugs, nitwits, halfwits, dimwits, vipers, snipers, con men, Indian agents, Mexican bandits, muggers, buggerers, bushwhackers, hornswogglers, horse thieves, bull dykes, train robbers, bank robbers, ass-kickers, shit-kickers and Methodists"

Well, no Mexicans or dykes, but otherwise accurate

Genuinely dispiriting watching ch4 news last night and what all this could mean for Palestinians. It's pretty much up for them, isn't it? Even if the rest of the world goes hard on Israel...

Thank goodness ol' Genocide Joe didn't get in, eh?

TBF as Bargouti says, if the two-state solution ends the only options remaining are either the one democratic state he suggests or a state run on openly racist lines with several classes of citizen. I am not sure even the US will tolerate the latter for any length of time.

Trump reportedly says he ‘can’t get rid’ of Musk: ‘Elon won’t go home’ President-elect Donald Trump seemingly can’t shake off his new best friend Elon Musk.

The SpaceX owner is said to have been an almost constant presence at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida since the presidential election, with the pair regularly dining together and even sharing a game of golf.
Musk has also regularly sat in when Trump made calls to other world leaders, including with Ukraine’s president, Volodymyr Zelensky.
Tech journalist Kara Swisher told CNN on Sunday (10 November) that Musk’s presence had even unnerved some of Trump’s other advisors, who allegedly called it odd.

I can see it all ending in tears. Hopefully spectacularly.

It'll be fine. I mean, it's not like H5N1 is out and about exploring zoonotic paths.

look most Americans are highly religious to a fault

if they did not take god sending a fucking plague during his first term as a hint

they deserve Everything that's coming to them

OMG! I can't believe this. This was a rising star of the Dems, who I have watched eviscerate the GQP. Is he being sarcastic, or is he caving? I saw that the police foiled a possible assassination on him a few days ago. He is very pro-Israel, and was vocal about it, if I remember, supporting the move to Jerusalem of the Embassy under the orange creature. Do you think Jesse is reading him wrong, as a lot of the comments are saying he is being facetious? I don't think so, as I was shocked when I saw him talking about the possible attempt on his life.
