I'm on ur boardz, wasting ur 2024 election bandwidthz

Possible future direction under the new government? I like this guy's point of view.

Rich people with assets here can move abroad and sell their assets here - presumably you can get tax from the sale but the rest of the money would move out of the country. Not sure what that means to the economy though.

I didn't watch the whole thing, but last time there was a "the rich will all leave" scare, the hedge fund managers all decided to piss off to Switzerland, went home to their wives (yes I know) and told them they were moving abroad, and were told to piss off. They coped.

But the assets remain here whoever you sell them to.

Same with the likes of Vodafone. You can say if you want to operate in our country you pay your taxes if you don't pay you don't get access to our market.

have we had this?

Reform UK has come under pressure to provide evidence its candidates at the general election were all real people after doubts were raised about a series of hopefuls who stood without providing any photos, biographies or contact details.

Reform insists every one of its 609 candidates on 4 July were real, while accepting that some were in effect “paper candidates” who did no campaigning, and were there simply to help increase the party’s vote share.

However, after seeing details about the apparently complete lack of information about some candidates, who the Guardian is not naming, the Liberal Democrats called on Reform to provide details about them.
:D

This. That's his point. It's not the people you're interested in. It's the assets. And it's the super rich 9 figures and up we're interested in. Not the highly paid financiers, law firm partners, etc who make 7-8 figures.

Or you'll end up with pretty much everyone being broke with no wealth/assets and a very, very small number of the asset rich. The working class got fucked in the 80's and now they're coming for the remaining smaller wealth/asset holders. The middle class.

FYI. The Youtuber was a very successful trader and is a multimillionaire himself. He's from a working class background and his particular area of current concern is economic inequality and its growing effects on society. Where it's likely to go. How it's being done, etc.

:D
I was more surprised at this...
Separately, it has emerged that Reform raised the most out of all political parties during the fourth week of the election campaign, bringing in almost £600,000 – of which a third was from the party’s new donor, Zia Yusuf.

Yusuf, a Muslim businessman who spoke at a recent Reform rally, is the founder of a luxury concierge company called Velocity Black, and gave Nigel Farage’s party £200,000.

Not the amount, the source of the largest donation.

Because he's non-white and Muslim?

Only Ben Habib, one of Reform's deputy leaders, is of Pakistan origin, and he's donated at least tens of thousands to the party.

Are you saying Reform voters aren't knuckle dragging racists?

Not all are.

There's plenty people of all colours and racial backgrounds that have concerns over the level of immigration in recent years, having those concerns doesn't make them all racists.

It clearly gives you and many others comfort to dismiss Reform like that, but have you ever considered their undoubted success might be a little more complicated than this crude picture suggests?

Looked like a protest vote from people who couldn't bear to vote Lim Dem or Labour.

I dismiss Reform as a minor party, on par with the Greens. They will garner votes, but seldom enough to win the seat.

It'll be up there with the masterful "you'll find this funny. kids" type line to set up his sketch at that school in the upcoming Comedy Central "Best of Starmer Stand-up" compilation
