XL Bully dog - discussion

Let’s say that works.

How do you do that whilst trying to protect yourself from the dog? Surely to splay their legs you have to get in their face or virtually on top of them?

It's about as much use as the 'just run away' nonsense people come out with to avoid being attacked.

I can barely hold my cat still without getting scratched and him escaping when he needs de-fleaing, the idea it's as simple as 'just pull their front legs apart' is deluded.

It’s complete nonsense. You might cause some kind of injury to a small dog by doing that but any dog of size will busy itself by eating your face off whilst you’re trying to give it the splits.

:D

But best ban labradors too, because they’re there in the figures.

WILL SOMEBODY PLEASE THINK OF THE CHILDREN!!?!!?

If only the child and the 2 blokes who got mauled in that video had simply grasped the dogs paws and pulled them apart. Too busy getting mauled and mucking about trying to gtfo

So we’re all agreed these dogs are mostly owned by pricks. And there’s no real excuse of having one. Good. Nice to have consensus. I mean if some poor soul accidentally bought one of these fuck knows how, but didn’t know. Too bad never mind. Take it off then put it down et cetera.

Guess those people who lost loved ones to Staffs and Labs and Huskies can just go suck dick, then…

Some posters just love theoretical arguments. But if a typical arsehole can identify a Bully XL in order to buy one, it shouldn’t be too difficult for anyone else to identify them in order to eradicate them. Wanting a weapon on a leash seems a sound enough argument to ban anyone from owning such a thing.
As a dog lover and owner the only difference I can see is that an XL bully is larger than a staffie so how would you know if you were getting a XL or a staffie with excess growth hormone? :hmm:

Is it just a Staffie but bigger?
I don’t personally know the morphological stuff.

To me the pics of the XL’s look more scary (I have a friend who has Staffies and they are mostly a slobber hazard, most likely from slipping on it), but journalists like to find the most monstrous example and then send it for photoshopping etc…

You wouldn't buy one of these by mistake. They're very expensive because there's not many of them about and they're seen as a 'premium brand' in the complete arsehole community.

You should never buy a puppy if you've not met the parents.

I mean, even if a dog like that would be in desperate need and needed adoption and it would break my heart just looking at it, I'd most likely decline and rather rather have it locked up or destroyed than taking responsibilty for it.
But then I'm not a dog person.

why did they choose an xl? for their looks, behaviour, general cuteness? I'm genuinely intrigued why people would choose them over other breeds, if not for their fighting ability or to show off?
Same goes for other 'fighting' breeds.

I wouldn't get one as a rescue not because I think they're inherently bad dogs but because I couldn't physically control one if it really wanted to go after something. I don't really believe anyone could, unless they were the approximate size and shape of a phone box.

I'm a dog person - I've had dogs (decent size dogs like labs, springers and pointers) most of my adult life. I wouldn't have one of these things in my house.

My children wouldn't go to a house that had one, if we saw one in a public place we'd move away.

For me, these things - and the people who own them - are the difference between a farmhouse with a shotgun cabinet in the loft, and a Crack den with a MAC-10 sub-machine gun lying on the floor.

Sometimes, shit will go wrong with the farmhouse, but not nearly a regularly as in the Crack den.

The only XL owner I know is not a prick and his dog is fine if a slobber hazard, my mate little patterdale tried to go for it though.

This misses the point though. The main issue is not necessarily the frequency with which these dogs get out of control but the devastation they cause when they do. The overwhelming majority of people who want to own them, want them to cause others to fear them. Since we're not allowed to shoot these people on sight, banning the dogs is about as efficient as we can get in reassuring others.

If someone walked around with a gun in their hand you wouldn't excuse them by explaining "I've never seen him use it". You'd ask why he wants to carry a gun.
