Ukraine and the Russian invasion, 2022-24

Not at all. So you obviously haven't read all my points before diving in.

Course i haven't. There are several pages between the daft post I first replied to and this. Like you've not read the thread or you wouldn't have made the daft post I first replied to this evening.

You're not one for nuances then. Make an assumption followed by a dick of yourself.

I think you're probably right. I'm wanting removed analysis where I'm being dragged into a football match. In terms of imperialism my position has always been a pox on both of their houses. I don't support NATO or Russia but I do see Russia as an Imperialist Aggressor but it's mad to claim it has been in no way provoked by Western policies following the 90s.

Theres no shortage of past analysis, featuring quotes from people within our own regimes over the key decades in question, which can explore the topic more thoroughly.

Unfortunately I cant bloody well find the one I read ages ago that I would prefer to link to now, and I cant even remember the name of the analyst.

And Im not suggesting that we dont pick at this sort of analysis either, or look into the wider positions of the people writing the articles and giving the speeches. For example the one that I most easily stumbled upon via a fresh search is by the bloody Cato institute, which is a bloody libertarian think-tank ffs. But I'm going to go ahead and link to it now anyway, mostly because of some of the historical quotes it cherrypicks to make its point.

On another note, the other month Putin gave some speech which the likes of the BBC decided to pluck a few quotes from, but I instead forced myself to read a transcript of the whole thing. It was vaguely illuminating and put some flesh on the bones of the pictures Putin tries to paint, his rationale and how he would like to frame world events and the power struggles of our age. I couldnt bring myself to quote from it at the time but I probably should have done because there were ample opportunities for me to point out what a fucking hypocrite he was being. He spent a long time going on about how the western version of globalisation is evil because it seeks to remove the differences between nations and their rights to fully independent self-determination. But of course he didnt apply that same thinking to Ukraine, instead preferring to devote time to downplaying the idea that Ukraine was really even a proper country of its own. And part of his rhetoric about nations being different was used to crudely dismiss the concept that there are any valid universal human rights.

I still wouldn't entirely discount it being the Russians and the Polish government wanting to pass it off as an accident by the Ukrainians because of nationalist demands for a response btw.
Are there a lot nationalists in Europe itching for their countries to get involved?

D
That's fucking rich. With your nuance like if Nato hadn't expanded. :D

Clearly haven't read this thread either so bollocks to your nuance frankly. It's been done a dozen times.
I said "It could be argued".
If you think it couldn't then good for you. But I'd be interested to hear your views on the causes of the conflict rather than childish snipes but I'm guessing you don't have anything.,

I would have expected my detractors to be a least vaguely forthcoming about their views but they're struggling to find their notes.
Get back to the football match then folks.
