The latest round of sanctions by the EU limits exports of tear gas and electric shockers to Russian law enforcement agencies. I wonder who has been supplying these since the war started?
I can't imagine that those who make this stuff have many moral qualms about circumnavigating or breaking the law.The latest round of sanctions by the EU limits exports of tear gas and electric shockers to Russian law enforcement agencies. I wonder who has been supplying these since the war started?

I think that was beside Tim's point. They have no 'moral qualms' about their products, even if they recognize the legal peril of going against new sanctions.I think you’d be surprised. Sanctions busting is serious stuff and involves hefty prison sentences for directors if caught.
Probably not but they wouldn't want to lose any export licences or face penalties .Its all about profit.I can't imagine that those who make this stuff have many moral qualms about circumnavigating or breaking the law.
Whereas other arms manufactures/dealers or countries that supply materials for weapons do have qualms ?I think that was beside Tim's point. They have no 'moral qualms' about their products, even if they recognize the legal peril of going against new sanctions.
What? Who said anything like that? How on earth did you get from what was said to thinking that was said or implied?Whereas other arms manufactures/dealers or countries that supply materials for weapons do have qualms ?
I think that was his point. That these people are bastards in general. The kind without 'moral qualms' about the nature of their products.I see very little moral different between supplying weapons to Russia, and supplying them to anyone else.
Of course business is about profit, which has a strong relationship to reputation and regulation. I don't think anyone was under the impression, before you explained it all, that these manufacturers and suppliers were non profit organisations.Probably not but they wouldn't want to lose any export licences or face penalties .Its all about profit.
When I went into industry I had a few rules, one was that I wasn't going to work for any company that could list kill or maim ratios on the datasheets for their products.I think that was his point. That is a brilliant map
Yes, well, that seems reasonable. When I went into industry I had a few rules, one was that I wasn't going to work for any company that could list kill or maim ratios on the datasheets for their products.
Not that keen on maps of loads of people getting killed and brutalised being labelled with "OMG" and "LOL" myself really. That is a brilliant map

one big reason for not selling to them atm is the very real risk of not getting paid, or paid in something worthlessI think his point was that if they’re prepared to sell weapons to Russia, they’d be prepared to break laws that prohibit them from doing so. My read of it anyway.
Yeah,. You’d want a pretty chunky deposit up-front, wouldn’t youone big reason for not selling to them atm is the very real risk of not getting paid, or paid in something worthless
Slightly reminiscent of Iran and all the stuff they went without because "dual use."no wonder people are fleeing
Annexations in name only. It'd be interesting to see how they plan to annexe Zaporizhzhia, for example, given that they barely control it right now...According to ISW ...
ISW's September 29 maps do not depict the reported encirclement of Lyman because the first Russian reports of the Ukrainian encirclement of Lyman broke after the 3:00 pm EST daily map cutoff. The ISW maps of September 30 will include all verified and updated information about the reported encirclement of Lyman.
Also as expected, those sham referenda results have resulted in annexations ...
Definitely, agreed. The area around Melitopol is a case in point !Annexations in name only. It'd be interesting to see how they plan to annexe Zaporizhzhia, for example, given that they barely control it right now...
I think that this is purely for domestic consumption - Putin will be only too well aware that nobody in the West believes his crazy referenda.Definitely, agreed. The area around Melitopol is a case in point !
Also currently occupy less than 60% of Donetsk ... and that's rapidly reducing !
