He knew it wasn't out.
So did Smith when he “caught” it. Root’s was more convincing.

Correct decision, I think. Did it bounce up off his fingers? Maybe, but you can't tell. SMith's a lucky boy as that was a genuine edge and hard hands. By rights it should have carried.
For god's sake don't jinx it manWe're in danger of winning this!

Are you saying James Anderson, at 40, needs to be PUT DOWN?!Josh Tongue got a 5fer 29 today.
Time for Jimmy’s one way trip to the vets?
England have however been great in the last two days and it will be a crying shame if the weather blocks out a victory here. Not since the 1985 Ashes have I seen an Australian team look so demoralised as they did yesterday.
Presumably England have looked at the weather forecast and feel there'll be enough play to get those last wickets. We'll see if course but I assume they've looked into it closer than we have. What I want to see over the next two days is that if it does clear long enough for fifteen minutes play here and there, then Mark Wood is bowling. No couple of overs each for Anderson and Broad, just maximise Wood's bowling time.
Is Broad wearing a tag on his ankle?
To be fair, he was mainly in for his batting.Josh Tongue got a 5fer 29 today.

Manchester is not in the Peak District. It does sit in the rain shadow of the peaks when there's an east wind, but the weather seems to be coming up from the south this weekend so that doesn't help much.
