The Ashes 2023

I think that he’s relishing the role of winding up the Aussies for being dirty cheats, and that’s totally made him forget to be scared.
As I've said previously, I really only catch bits of cricket during the Ashes and World Cup. However, even within that, I think one of the things I would be most confident about getting right is that this is absolutely what's going on.

Everything I know of Broad says it is :D

Calling it now - carrot dangled run chase of about 350, 4 sessions.

Aussies look to strangle the run rate by continuing the short ball barrage. England look to score quickly and take it on. 5 down before halfway to the target. Belatedly England stop taking the bait and the last couple of recognised batsmen trickle ever closer as the Aussies realise they'll have to actually bowl somewhere near the stumps to take the wickets.

Then the tailenders try and smack their way to victory as time draws short, last 4 wickets for under 30 runs and about 80 short.
Looking like a good call so far

They've really got to bring the wide rule in to line with ODI cricket. Some of these balls are unplayable.

Stokes — what a player. An obvious thing to say but seriously.
Remarkable stuff, for sure...but relying so heavily on such an exceptional performance from one man does not, IMO, justify Baz-ball as a strategy (whatever the outcome of this absorbing test).

Sure, not a comment on the approach (although I’m not against it myself). Just a comment of the qualities of the player. He’s magnificent.

He actually plays his best cricket when he's not playing Bazball. Just building a normal innings. Ironically.

Just saw an Aussie fan celebrating with a can of Brew Dog in hand. I've now lost all respect for 'em.

constant bouncers against tail-enders; all you need to know about their character

I've only just twigged the stumping thing was the last ball of the over. The keeper wasn't so much anticipating Bairstow would go for a wander between balls as that he'd think the over was done. It wasn't really anticipating him being out of his ground, at all, purely playing on how batters normally behave at the end of an over. Within the rules, maybe. Gamesmanship/bad form, 100%

If Pope’s injured, it’s an opportunity to get Foakes back in. Bairstow has contributed to both of England’s losses. He needs to get back to just batting.

Anderson needs to sort himself out for Old Trafford.

The only time I want to see a 70 odd mph ball is when Root does a comedy bouncer. Robinson is out for the rest of the series…and for the rest of the WhyLikeThis administration. Get in shape for the Ashes or smoke fag, drink shit lager and eat kebabs? Not a tricky one.

1. Crawley
2. Duckett
3. Brook
4. Root
5. Bairstow
6. Stokes
7. Foakes
8. Moeen
9. Wood
10. Broad
11. Tongue
