The Ashes 2023

Pope is the new Graeme Hick. Very highly rated and plunders runs for fun in the County Championship, but a bit of a flat-track bully and disappoints at test level.

Joe Root just bowled a 75mph delivery off a couple of paces. Move over Robbo, you’ve got some competition.

Wheels are getting wobbly already. Aus have comprehensively won both of the first two sessions. If they also win the final session today, this could turn into a thrashing.

Looking like a good toss to lose.

This has got to be the slowest pace attack I’ve ever seen for an England test side...and I remember Mark Ealham.

Been working today and only just tuned in. Fucking pile of shit from the look of it. Crap selections and crap fielding. Rubbish.

They look totally deflated almost on a come-down. The report that came out yesterday was unlikely to bring much joy. Then having walk through the long room which is the natural habitat for the lord of the gammons. That would hardly allay concerns about cricket being infested with cunts.

A few too many bad deliveries (and no-balls), but plenty have beaten the bat so they've been a bit unlucky. Plus two catches down. Root's was difficult but it did carry. Pope's was a bad one. Reacted late, got nowhere near catching it.

appalling over rate once again. England are currently last on the WTC table on -2. They could be -4 following this match.

They've already lost control of this test match. It's not a 300-3 pitch.

Well the over rate doesnt take into account the interruption by the protestor lifted 60m off the field by YJB and then having to change his clothes. I don't think.

They added on time for that. 83 overs in the day. It's becoming more and more acceptable.

Aus missed out on the first WTC final because of over rates. It does matter.

But no teams seem to care. England are really poor. If anything Aus are even worse.

Given the conditions, the score is terrible for England already.

I will say this. England lost control and bowled some garbage at times, but they beat the edge a lot. On another day, they would have bowled Aus out. However, drop catches like that Pope one particularly, and you make life very difficult for yourself. At least Bairstow got the stumping this time.

They need to bowl Aus out quickly tomorrow and stay in the game by not conceding a huge first innings lead. Then who knows, Aus could collapse second innings and let England back in. But it doesn't look good right now.

It was looking pretty toothless. I think we have to accept Jimmy is past it now. If he couldn't get anything out of those conditions.

He had a catch dropped tbf, and beat the bat a few times. He also maintained control - the only seamer to do so.

For me, Robinson was the most disappointing of the bowlers. At his pace, he has to be on the money every ball, McGrath-like, to build pressure. He wasn't. He mixed up some good deliveries with pies.
