Operation pillar of cloud. Israeli assault on Gaza

strange sort of negotiation that lasts 45 years and counting

I once went to a Uni debate on the Middle East where two of the participants, one Palestinian and one Israeli described themselves as negotiators. They had obviously had been at it for a while as they were both familiar with each other and surprisingly seemed to get on quite well.

how auld were they?

Also Tony Blair was talking shit on PM earlier. As usual no one questioned anything he was saying. One question was repeated but the second avoidance stuck.

OccupyWallStreet claiming on their Facebook that last nights Israeli air strikes actually killed over 200 in Gaza, rather than the 12 figure widely reported

Anyone know anymore regarding this allegation?

Apologies for lack of link - posting on a phone

This would be laughable were the situation otherwise:

The United States is calling on Egypt to use its sway with the Palestinians to try to end the violence from Gaza, a top US official said Thursday, adding Hamas must stop its rocket attacks on Israel.
"We ask Egypt to use its influence in the region to help de-escalate the situation," deputy State Department spokesman Mark Toner said, adding that Secretary of State Hillary Clinton had spoken with her Egyptian counterpart.

I dont think Palestine Telegraph is necessarily a very good twitter source, although I dont mean more general tweets about raids and bombs. What happened to the Egyptian tanks in Sinai for example?

I see that both sides are on occasions passing old or unrelated photos off as being of recent death & destruction too. Not surprising.

I did a search for that last night/early this morning and only found news items from june... Not to say that they aren't moving tanks around near the border but i couldn't find anything to confirm this when i looked...

Perhaps not about specifics like numbers of casualties no, though I'm following a couple of just personal twitter accounts from people in Gaza and they're all saying much the same things about explosions or F16s overhead etc

Apparently Harry Fear is reporting 100 bombs/rockets on gaza in the last 30 minutes.

The BBC headline was of the 1 rocket that hit near Tel Aviv.

...and this speech could have been written and posted today, but it wasn't.
