2014 Elections: Urban Exit Poll

Who did you vote for in the 2014 European and Local Elections?

  • Total voters
    165
  • Poll closed .
for the locals i voted for the independant chap - he's quite good, and amazingly he was actually walking the streets yesterday.

we didn't even have an LD in the locals...

for the Euro's i couldn't go through with my idea of voting UKIP - it might have been the tactical start of a somewhat long-winded process that ends in the UK staying in the EU rather than leaving it, but i just could not give their not-very-well-disgiused-xenophobia/racism, climate change denial, homophobia and generally unpleasant fruitloopery the legitimacy that comes with a vote.

Haven't voted yet but just had a Green party canvasser call round and she was bloody gorgeous, so she can have mine! ;)

Incidentally, the votes don't get counted till Sunday (to allow all the other countries who vote over a couple of days to get theirs done). Can't remember if there will be actual exit polls before then? Might have been some sort of 'gentleman's agreement' in the past about not publishing them till (all) the polls close. Can't imagine that will survive in an internet era. [dull speculation, I'm just wondering when Falange's crowing will start in earnest]

No exit polls at all. Cuts. Seriously.

We get the local election results, which may be a story in themselves.

It's been speculated that because local elections are mostly taking place in urban areas this year that this will affect the euro vote, as people are more likely to come out to vote for two elections rather than one (and will be mobilised by party machines which have an easier time canvassing/leafleting in dense areas). It could put a bit of an urban skew (read leftish-slant) on results.

It'll also possibly mean a lot of motivated UKIP voters casting ballots in local elections they might not otherwise have bothered with, so conversely could slant local results towards UKIP or parties UKIP voters would support.

Voted Green for the Euro one and Left Unity for the council one - I know the bloke standing and he is sound (ex AFA) plus I know the local Labour councillor (he lives next door) and he is an utter bellend.

I went with Green having realised that one of the SNP candidates has been in two other parties. Couldn't vote for them knowing that, and not sure the standing MEP is worth voting for tbh.

Did you ever vote for the green party? Did you join the party? I hold in my hand a printout...

Heh heh. Bastard. "No comment". Or something. Ok you got me bang to rights.

If I fess up to GPEW membership in days gone by, can I get the hippy charge dropped?

A fair few people on my facebook feed (friends and people commenting on friend's feeds) saying they're voting for the first time in years to (for example) 'see off UKIP fascists'. Quite a bit of election chatter relative to normal locals/euros. People seem motivated.

To do what though? I don't trust 'em.

Local Euro lot.

Gawain Fucking Towler! Fuck me, what's next Sir Lancelot throwing his hat in the ring for the Elvis Bus Pass Party?

I voted at 11am. Officers said they'd had less than 60 in by that point.
Surprised by how many parties named after either anti-eu or send-them-back policies. Splits the nutjob vote i guess. Nice to see UKIP right at the bottom, in a paper-fold of its own so you'd really have to look for it to find them...

Bloke at my polling station said it was slow. He didn't know there was an election until last week :D
