XL Bully dog - discussion

It would have been more convincing if they had been confident enough to bring their dogs.

I mean, if it was a march in response to threats to ban dachshunds it would have been inundated in sausage dogs...
The only dog thats attacked me in the park was a dachshund the other dachshund with it kept dragging it away by it's collar and barking at it! I was more concerned of accidently running it over with my bicycle than than being mauled by it.

I notice a severe lack of dogs at this protest.

Perhaps they couldn't be trusted to behave?
That was the first thought that crossed my mind.

If they're all so confident that they're the 'good' type of dog owner and their dog is well-trained and isn't a problem, then why didn't they all bring their dogs with them?

If they're all so keen to prove that their dogs are safe and not dangerous, this would've been the perfect opportunity to prove it.

The fact that they couldn't/wouldn't bring all their dogs with them speaks volumes. If even all the 'good' dog owners know that their dogs can't be trusted 100 per cent to be around other dogs and lots of people, that says it all, really.

I honestly don't think we can read that much into it.
Maybe they wanted to avoid the noise and mess that that many dogs in one place could cause. Plus it is just logistically easier to go without the dog.

no even had one of the owners admit their dogs were dangerous but of course hers was well trained and socilaised but she admitted it weighed 54kilos they are all potential grenades now if you gave 100 people hand grenades 99 people would put them some where safe but one person would want to pull the pin to see what happened  .
XL bully's have killed more people than any other breed of dog and their not that common.
time to get rid.

I wouldn't fancy being anywhere near a large group of people with these dogs, thanks very much.
Same here. But it is not what we think, but the people who are willing to go out and protest for the right to own the things think in this case.

Suggestions of licences, or muzzling in public, won’t prevent attacks on people, often small children, in their own homes. The owners of these dogs seem to acquire them for dubious reasons, and if I’ve read various media reports correctly over the last few years, it’s often involved an adult dog that has only recently been bought.

The media don’t usually seem to mention the gender of the dogs. Neutering or spaying adult dogs wouldn’t automatically render them placid pets, but at least it would take them out of the reproductive chain.

As a dog-owner can I totally can see the POV of some 'XL Bully (they totally need to rebrand that') owners in recent times sayin their dogs wouldnt hurt a fly. It's the owners. I'd neuter/spay the owners, not their dogs.

My dog is a little mix-breed (and nothing like an XL Bully) and is gentle as they come but I think that's because I raised her with love. I don't fully buy the genetic argument, against the dogs anyway.

Sterilise the owners.

Why don't you buy the genetic argument? I mean it's what breeds are all about, bred for selected characteristics. May as well say you don't believe genetically Great Danes are taller than the average mongrol.

Or that Danish people are taller than Inuit people..

I generally don't mind dogs, although I'm more of a cat person - there's a sweet little Frenchie I see often in my local park, for instance - but XL bullies fucking scare me. They're weapons, not pets. And for dogs that are supposed to be sweet and gentle, they do seem to kill and maim people a lot.

And of course they're owned by the type of person who enjoys standing in the doorway of a supermarket blocking people's way so he can show how hard he and his dog are.

That's called eugenics and I hope you weren't being serious.

And in a nutshell ANYONE who supports breed specific bans, is in support of Eugnenics. Or, in another nutshell, 90% of the people in this thread.
