XL Bully dog - discussion

And apparently carne corsos will be next..... so you'll all be supporting the ban on them too.....down to the gerbil....

I can take abuse It means nothing. What irks me is if anyone makes stuff up and ‘professional victim’ isn’t me at all. I think that’s just something someone churns out if they’ve run out of road.

I get the sentiment, but in my experience I've not once been terrified by an off the leash, out of control human who ran at me as I was walking and tried to bite me.
Never been out in an average UK town after kicking out 0'clock? And anyway, humans know the law and are held accountable to it....because there are some kind of.....oh what are they called....sensible laws. They don't euthenise anyone who got drunk and kicked off.

Are you denying my experience?

If you've never met an agressive person, the yes. Maybe not one that tried to bite you, but people use hands instead of mouths usually.
Thanks for your candour; I'll not be engaging with this discussion any more.

And it's not just that large dogs can be agressive (let's bring back the sensible me for just a second) but in all seriosness there are quite a lot of people who are proper scared of dogs. And being faced with big dogs like that isn't nice. It might make people with dog fears feel a bit better if more dogs are muzzled. Blanket bans are never the answer, pretty much all the people from the dog charities agree that BSL does not work. It just moves it to another dog. It has to end with sensible laws that center round education and protecting both people and dogs.

Sensible laws. Muzzle large dogs in public, make sure they've been trained, hold owners to MUCH more stringent laws than they are currently held to if something does go wrong.

Agree with all this. Also, licenses to be granted after owner and dog have demonstrated recall without treats over a set distance, required before off-lead exercise in public place is permitted.

Wait, you can't be racist towards dogs can you

I think breeding healthy pets of a sensible size and good temperament is a positive thing, isn't it??

Certainly more positive than breeding them for cutesy physical characteristics that happen to come with breed-specific medical challenges like hip weakness.

Some dogs can't be let off in public. As much as I love my big fuck off dog, he looks like a big scary fucking ball of teeth and muscle when he's playing. You just can't have that in a public place. Not ever. Some kind of recall, yes, but not off lead as big ass dogs like this shouldn't be off lead in public.
