XL Bully dog - discussion

there are quite a lot of people who are proper scared of dogs. And being faced with big dogs like that isn't nice. It might make people with dog fears feel a bit better if more dogs are muzzled.
Then there's the idiots that don't ask if it's ok to pet your dog even if it's scared or nervous. :(

This is true. I had a guy with a little girl who just threw her arms round himas I was walking down the street. I fucking shat myself I'd only had him a week. Thankfully he was lovely but I had no time to react either way.

Some dogs can't be let off in public. As much as I love my big fuck off dog, he looks like a big scary fucking ball of teeth and muscle when he's playing. You just can't have that in a public place. Not ever. Some kind of recall, yes, but not off lead as big ass dogs like this shouldn't be off lead in public.

Racist.

Sensible dog laws are racist? Or is killing them all much, much better?

A moment’s levity. Yeah, I agree that some breeds shouldn’t exercise off lead, but it’s tricky to define which ones: sighthounds aren’t intimidating however large they get, so it would be a shame to do it by size, and there are some super-placid big herding dogs which you’d want to keep out of scope. So you’d have to do it by typical breed behaviour which is a little unfair to some very well-behaved dogs. Off-lead exercise is essential to wellbeing, I think, although my only experience is with a working cocker.

working dogs can have colored bands on leads or collars, like you can get for nervous or agressive dogs already.

serious question: did you have a muzzle on the dog at this point?

It’s all well and good being racist and muzzling certain breeds in public but that doesn’t protect anyone in the home they might want to turn on or if they manage to escape.

sighthounds aren’t intimidating however large they get,
I've always had 2 dogs at a time. The only dog at the RSPCA that was 'alright' with other dogs was my lurcher. He was fine with other dogs until there was a misunderstanding with a collie. Now he doesn't like any other dog and growls and barks aggressively if another dog comes close. :(

Sensible laws. Muzzle large dogs in public, make sure they've been trained, hold owners to MUCH more stringent laws than they are currently held to if something does go wrong.
Who's going to pay for the policing of all that (not that I think your ideas would do much to stop people getting injured and killed)?

What about Charla Nash who got her face ripped off by a Chimpanzee?
Who wins? The owner's 'rights' to own something a bit exotic or the victim's rights to own their face on their head? And where is the line drawn on this, or isn't there one?

And it's not just that large dogs can be agressive (let's bring back the sensible me for just a second) but in all seriosness there are quite a lot of people who are proper scared of dogs. And being faced with big dogs like that isn't nice. It might make people with dog fears feel a bit better if more dogs are muzzled. Blanket bans are never the answer, pretty much all the people from the dog charities agree that BSL does not work. It just moves it to another dog. It has to end with sensible laws that center round education and protecting both people and dogs.
Ah, that'll be the sensible legislation that fuckwits who think they're hard because they have an aggressive dog that they've either 'trained' to fight or is simply out of control abide by.

And that'll be the sensible legislation that well-meaning idiots who say 'my dog's harmless, he won't hurt a fly, he's just jumping up 'cos he's friendly' abide by, just before their badly trained or not-trained-at-all dog with absolutely no recall savages or kills someone.

Yes, I made a point of getting one when I got him from the rspca. Infact I got 3, 2 of which were shite and got donated.
Why would you donate shite muzzles? If they're shite enough that you wouldn't want to risk your dog wearing it in public, why would you want someone else to risk their dog wearing it in public?

Surely, if you really cared about public safety (and about not risking a dog attacking someone and risking the dog being put down), you'd have chucked the shite muzzles in the bin?!?

I rehomed a dog that was used as bait dog by travellers. She was a cunt with other dogs but loved children and cats. The tuts and abuse I got when walking her was so stressful. Every dog can be dangerous whatever their size. I remember in the 80's when twats owned rottweilers and they trained them to be vicious. A good friend had two and I regularly got slobbered to death.
Humans are the fucking problem here.
