Ukraine and the Russian invasion, 2022-24

Just sayin' :)
Same paper , day before:

Seismic analysis indicates an explosion led to the failure of the Kakhovka dam.

That would seem to back up eye witness accounts that have been reported.

Data from regional seismic stations show clear signals on Tuesday 6 June at 2:54 local time (01:54 Norwegian time). Time and place coincide with reports in the media about the collapse of the Kakhovka dam. The signals indicate that there is an explosion.

Magnitude estimate is between 1 and 2.

The figure below shows the signal from the Bukovina (BURAR) seismic array, a measuring station in Romania. Distance from the dam is 620 km.

An ex military bod on R4 news said the Russians have just established a 60 mile zone in which the Ukranians can't attack them.

The Russians have just established a 60 mile zone in which the Ukrainians probably can't attack them for now. Massively underestimating the Ukrainians has what has led the Russians into this sorry state of affairs.
I'm pretty certain there are people in Kyiv right now looking at a map, stroking their chins and going hmmm.

There can be absolutely no doubt Russia did this on purpose. Of course they did. And right at the time a counteroffensive was starting, in order to stall it. Putting Kiev in a difficult position.
It’s worked out pretty well for the Ukrainians, Now they’ve got a good excuse for not launching a counter offensive

They just have launched a counter offensive, that's why Russia (probably) blew the dam.
Yep. 70 ton tanks don't work too well on boggy ground. They lose their advantage in speed and maneuverability. I suppose the Ukrainian and NATO planners thought 'well it's inevitable...'.

Curious to see what contingencies they've thought up (if any).

Counterattack further east.:hmm:

This is now a sore that should need outside policing for long term stability , which can't happen coz of the way things are ...something got to give
