If anyone wants to explore Moskva theories, search for Moskva Corruption on twitter. It's quite the rabbit hole. Some theories seem carefully researched. There are SAMs which weren't maintained, safety equipment locked away and only brought out for parades/PR, fire suppression and damage control of WW2 vintage. Some of the evidence is from public domain investigations/prosecutions of corrupt officers.

This corruption induced corner cutting seems to be have been endemic right through the Russian military. You can imagine the panic right across the board and at every command level when they were ordered to get ready for a full on war. You're supposed to have 100 tanks. But 30 have been cannibalised for parts and a half the crews only exist on paper. So you put out 70 under crewed tanks. And your logistics support is simarly corrupted with under maintenance and under staffed. Rinse and repeat through out the entire army, navy and airforce. Add rigid, top down command structure and poor morale and you can see why they have fucked up so spectacularly.

Been watching the news over here in Portugal while visiting family over Easter. They don’t hold back on the grim stuff here, video footage of the recent shelling of civilians in Kharkiv etc. with bodies and gore everywhere. Proper bleak and horrible. One bit was the ‘double tap’ attack where they sent another shell while medics were attending to the wounded. British TV reporting has been so much more sanitised. It must be making people enraged watching this stuff.

That sort of money buys all the getarounds you could possibly need. Ship what you want via middlemen in China, spend way over the odds, who cares, you have $200bn and all the assets and reach of an entire nation. More faff? Certainly. More time to get hold of whatever it is you have your eye on? Most likely. Impossible? No.

What’s left of them. VDV took a lot of losses in the botched first round.
Tough fight ahead, but then we all thought this at the start of the war. But they have secure supply lines and good air support now, learned a few lessons over the last few weeks, and have made some effort to destroy and damage Ukraine’s supply Infrastructure. I’m not optimistic. Yet Russian military success will be met with further economic and political isolation. Fuck knows how this ends.

Mocking the corruption doesn't detract from the horror of civilians being disposed of in mobile crematoria. Our governments are feeding in just enough weapons to enable Ukrainians to be killed at a sustainable rate. There's no political will to rescue them. The best we can hope for is that Putin can obliterate enough towns and cities to declare a victory. But he won't ever stop the fighting. He'll carry on weakening Ukraine til his dying day.
