The Ashes 2017-18

That just makes it more annoying for me. Australia are not all that. This is not like the teams of the McGrath/Warne era, where they had 11 top players on the park. But they're still winning.

But we are still much worse a team! Our discipline and mental strength is light years behind Aus. The omnishambles team was infinitely better than these lot.

It's bloody painful as we simply don't make it a contest for silly errors and discipline/confidence.

Us even going over there, and the ridicule we heap on ourselves on and off the pitch, feels like some karmic retribution for The Empire or Ben Stokes.

(But fuck me those days when we rip though them makes it all worthwhile )

Dunno...going to probably sleep like normal, take one nervous listen to tms at 6ish...If Root is still being mentioned it's game on:D... otherwise Aggers will be commenting on the Aussies lap of honour and itll be business as usual

Just added up (roughly) the England players averages,( not including overton) which comes to 320ish!

Simple, if everyone bats to their average England can do this!!
Yes but there are averages and then averages. Fourth innings averages are... especially average.

What is it with these funny DRS decisions? I’ve seen the Marsh/Anderson one and that looked out as out can be. Now Joe Root has got away with one as well, seems odd to say the least.

I don't really understand 'umpire's call'. Which really means 'on field umpire's initial call'.

The contorted implication is somehow that the on field umpire is somehow more reliable a judge than the DRS umpire when DRS shows that the decision is a close one.

No one in their right minds could seriously think this.

Overton, having played one test innings and not got out, has I believe got an infinite test batting average at this point.

Test matches which hit the fifth day in the balance are rare blessings. Ram it out with punters!
In the balance is probably stretching things a bit....

But it's definitely been a good finish to the test... Good to see some application after first one fizzled out
