The 2024 UK General Election - news, speculation and updates

Results so far seem that a rump of Tory vote has shifted to Reform. I think that may be mirrored in the SW too

These are safe Labour seats, but I would think the 2019 Tory vote was boosted by switchers from Labour. And that’s now gone to reform and not gone back to Labour
And again in Sunderland

Tory + reform combined is v close to Labour total

Labour have a problem in the red wall still?

They use this as a springboard. They win some councils. The tories may recover and win back those who have switched, or they may not. We've seen the Gaullists collapse in France. It can happen. Last happened here a century ago with the Liberals being replaced by Labour.

If the polling is right, Tory + Refuck > Labour vote (and Labour vote is significantly below 2017). If the Tories continue to collapse, refuck could replace them. It's not impossible.
Significantly above 2019…
But we shall see. We need to move the country on economically and from the culture wars and then people will hopefully not be so motivated to vote with fear and hate.

Starmer hasn’t won back the red wall.

Reform will take votes from the tories which will return some seats to Labour and reform will take a few but Tory + reform vote combined is v close to Labour in Sunderland

Conclusion: Neoliberalism isn’t working.
