Ministers target July 4th for reopening of England’s pubs and restaurants

Our local is packed. 100+ people outside with no social distancing. We can normally hear their garden, which sounds as busy as normal but today when I opened the front door I could hear the customers out front. Wife and daughter went for a walk with the dog and couldn't walk down the pub road, which is closed off to cars at both ends as the crowd was too big and closely packed. Way worse than the Soho video above.

wheres that Anju? Ive a memory of you being in Crystal Palace

Absolutely cracking pub, I used to love it, and I'd take quite an awkward bus or train journey to get to it.

I wouldn't go at the moment though, especially not after reading your description!

They've become really busy over the last couple of years. The road it's on was closed off to traffic with two 5 foot tall wooden planters at each end and they get a good sized crowd outside. Always a nice friendly atmosphere and when they have live music I can sit in my garden and listen. Sea shanty nights are my favourite.

I have, until now, been moderately pragmatic about mask wearing on my very occasional excursions outside. But, with scenes like those in the tweets above, and the very obvious rise in the number of visitors in my area, I'm very concerned, and I'll be masking up without fail any time I'm out and about from now.

I can't help feeling that we're going to start seeing US-style infection spikes quite soon.

Don't worry guys, it's merely an illusion you get from certain long camera angles.
I can see what you're doing here, you're rolling your eyes at people who told you you were being too alarmist every other time you've been sure that crowded beaches / parks etc are going to cause a second spike. But you were wrong then, and no-one is saying this is fine now - so I don't get what you're complaining about?

(that said, I'm going to wait and see a more rounded picture than some images of soho before I start worrying too much)

It's an attempt at humour that's also clearly a dig at what me and others have said to you previously on here - what other response do you expect to a dig?

it's strange, everything BJ does about the virus reminds me of prince rupert out of the english civil war

The pub I went to yesterday was all very well and socially distant for a couple of hours but as time wore on, people, including me, became less and less concerned as the intoxication levels increased. We left as soon as I realised I was getting too pissed to care. Won't be doing it very often I don't think but it made a very pleasant change.

Having not done it for so long made me realise how bloody expensive it is as well.

Loos are a bit of a shitshow as well. Very difficult to use without touching multiple surfaces.

Gave our details on some NHS spp thing.

I've not been to the pub yet but I think the prices are going to be the biggest shock. Been used to drinking in the park, quaffing excellent wine for less than the price of blossom hill in the pub.
