Food Shortages

Power shortages in China hit homes and factories prompting global supply fears:

Widening power shortages in China’s north-east have left homes without power and halted production at numerous factories, while some shops operated by candlelight as the economic toll of the squeeze mounted.

Residents in the north-east, where autumn temperatures are falling, reported power cuts and appealed on social media for the government to restore supplies.

Rationing has been implemented during peak hours since last week, while residents of cities including Changchun said cuts were occurring sooner and lasting for longer, state media reported.

China’s power crunch, caused by tight coal supplies and toughening emissions standards, has hurt production in industries across several regions and poses a risk to already strained global supply chains.

Looks like I'm not getting my lawn mower repaired any time soon.

It also looks like the dollar store, the standby of the working poor in the US, will be raising its prices. Things won't be a dollar any more.

Dollar Tree announced its $1 era is over. The bargain brand said to expect items above the 1-buck price point (and $3 or $5 in some locations) on shelves.

Its a shame. The appeal of shopping there is that you don't have to check the pricing. It's all a dollar. There's been times I've been so poor I only had a few dollars until I got paid. I could count on going to Dollar Tree and spending $5 for enough food to feed me for a while.

Milk and More delivery didn't happen today. The only other time they failed to deliver was in the first lockdown.
Their website is saying they can't recruit enough drivers.

This Government is possibly the most dumb Government in UK history.

Home office said:
For the first 9 months of this year, HGV drivers could arrive in the UK using their respective country's identity card. However from October that has changed. All citizens entering the UK from the EEA and Switzerland will need to show their passports at ports of entry.

Yet 83% of all the 2019 HGV traffic used ID cards.

No paracetamol of any brand or lockets in Sainsbury’s, the cunts. Bread was a bit sketchy too.

I haven't seen a packet of pasta in a several weeks now, always empty shelves.

Fortunately there's still rice, but lots of arsenic and other nasties in that stuff (especially any long grain from the US) so I do generally like to balance out the poisons in my carb intake.
