World Athletics Championships 2017

I've had quad cramp and it's horrible. I think Denise is right and that's what happened.
I think Shaunae Miller said she had the race under control then she looked up at the big screen and that just took her attention away and she accidentally stubbed her toe on the track and totally lost her balance and impetus.

She seemed really nicely philosophical about the whole thing. She is an Olympic champion so it's not the end of her world...

Hope thats a good enough time for Sharp to go through, was so close at the end.

I reckon Sharp has a good case for reinstatement.

Enjoyed the great Asbel Kiprop coming through in the 1500m semis. Always takes it easy at the back for 3 laps then gets a wriggle on with 400m to go.

Chris O' Hare dun well!

Wightman was going so well but then he faded. I think he might have suddenly tried too hard at the bell. If you watch him, he almost jumps forward into sprint mode. Maybe he should have just built up his speed as the last lap unfolded.

Maybe a glimmer of hope in the Hammer.

Britain has never won a medal (Olympics or World Champs) since 1924. But now we have Sophie Hitchon (who didn't do too bad) and Nick Miller (who's not doing too bad).....

And there's a small bunch of young hammer throwers of world standard for the coming years.

From the BBC text feed:
Mike Costello BBC Radio 5 live athletics commentator said:
I think we might be looking at a World Championships in a decade when by the time you get here, all you see is the semi-final and finals and all the qualifying is done somewhere else.

Speaking to UK Athletics chief Ed Warner, that seems to be the direction some people want to take it.

What they are trying to do is make sure the best athletes are here. In Doha in two years' time, you will be looking at empty stands.

That is just a discussion that has taken place, I'm just putting that forward.
