World Athletics Championships 2017

That was a great race. Dafne Schippers is so strong and has such an amazing physique, she's like pure muscle.

And I liked the fact she was so determined to defend her title and I'm glad she did

Great race though with the outcome in doubt until the last metre. 4th for Asher-Smith and with a couple of screws in her foot. Good stuff all over the place.

I think this is shaping up to be our worst ever medal tally at a World Championships... at least it stops the Beep banging on about the medals table so much.

I dunno if we stand a chance in any of the relay races..

Imagine the coverage if DAS had medalled. They almost ignored the second and third in that race to concentrate on her. I mean well done Dina, great race and coming back and that, and extra points for saying 'fuck' at the end, but bloody hell.

Hardly any at all, I would think, women's or men's.... :(

I think we should get a gold with Mo on Saturday and Chris O'Hare might just remotely scrape a bronze or suchlike on Sunday. And that's it, I'm afraid...

The decathlon doesn't seem to get the same love as the heptathlon, not just here but elsewhere too. Is that because we don't have the same recent heritage in the decathlon as the heptathlon (where the latter has Lewis, Sotherton, Ennis and KJT, the former really only has Dean Macey and apparently this bloke currently competing), or is there something else to it?

It was really big when Daley Thompson was competing and the Hepathlon less so.

So yes I think it's due to GB having less 'star' competitors in the decathlon recently

Simple as that really - and of course Daley has the very sellable ongoing battle with Jurgen Hingsen (almost wrote klinsman then) - a nazi german with a tache designed to wind daley up

Anyway, it's relay time!

I still miss the days of the 4 x 400m in the 90s, when you had the likes of Iwan Thomas and Jamie Baulch. The latter would seemingly bomb out as fast as he could, almost as if he was only running 200m, and then just try and hold on for grim life for the next 200m  :D

I remember a school friend having a German exchange student staying during one Olympics it must have been, I'd be about 14 or 15.

I was crowing that Daley Thompson was beating the German, really "Ha ha look at our plucky Brit beating your man!!:facepalm::oops::(

Dear lord I'm surprised I didn't grow up to be a UKIP voter!

I'm changing my mind. The relays are going really well and a lot of hot squads (like Trinidad) are crashing out....
