Athletics

It's one of the many things I love about heptathlon, that there seems to be a genuine camaraderie among most, if not all, the competitors.

Think I heard it said once that it's a product of going through so much over the two days, that it just naturally happens in a 'in the trenches together" sort of way.

It's so heartwarming to see them all pleased for each other, especially the beaten athletes congratulating the medalists. Then on top of that, them all walking round chatting like mates, one of the best sights of any athletics meet the end of the heptathlon.

Edit: a lot of them in barefoot just relieved to get the spikes off is part of it too :)

When you've been through something so know what it's like and you know that somebody else knows as they have too - empathy can be a wonderful thing.

this 10k is a bit weird. The woman who was leading after 2.5 k just stopped and walked off and now they are all still in one big group, almost jogging around.

Poor Megan Keith getting lapped.

She ran so well to qualify, ran the legs off everybody else. Inverness have some bloody good runners.

Men's Triple Jump interesting, Cuba could have had a 1-2-3 but all defected athletes and now representing Spain, Portugal and Italy.

A whole bunch seemed to fall over on the last hurdle!

Great race, Benjamin ran a lovely even pace. Dos Santos started like a rocket and couldn't keep it up.
