T20 Cricket World Cup

Please stop calling him Sky, commentators. It's almost as cringey as 'Wrighty' calling everyone by their first names or nicknames.

There are 2 Yadavs and SKY is a lot easier to say (or write) than his name. And everyone knows him as SKY.

I watched this in a sea of Indians, hundreds if not a thousand on the grass on the big screen in Canary Wharf. The most bonkers thing I've experienced in a long time, those final couple of overs. Felt like I was in Mumbai, just sheer chaos.

Couldn't really see the final over as it had become a bit of a mosh pit but was so much fun. I was with a friend who had never watched cricket, a football fan, and she was overwhelmed by how much better the vibe was than watching Ingerland. I'm glad they won.

So nobody made a thread for this, but the women's version is nearing the business end.

With a last-minute switch to UAE from Bangladesh leading to empty stadiums and a string of uncompetitive games on turgid pitches, it's not been the greatest tournament sadly.

Australia are ridiculously better than everyone else and it will be a massive shock if they don't win it. They've thrashed everyone so far.

The other competitive teams appear to be England, SA, WI, India and NZ.

England have done very well so far, winning three out of three, but the way things have worked out, the final game vs West Indies is effectively a quarter-final. It's a bit complicated due to net run rate, but if England lose, they may very well go out.

Getting the calculator out, I think England are definitely out if they lose to WI. There might be a scenario in which a loss on super over sees England stay ahead of WI on NRR. So yes, huge game coming up: win and win the group and avoid Australia in the semis, lose and go out.

England fucked it today. Put up a decent total then proceeded to drop half a dozen catches in the first 10 overs. :(

Well done WI, but England are going to be feeling very sore about that.

I was listening to this. Alex Hartley going pretty close to fat shaming her former colleagues.

Has she got a point?

There are going to be a lot of questions asked and some of them, rightly so, on fitness. England need to get fitter. Australia have got 15 or 16 athletes, genuine athletes. You look at our team – I’m not going to name names but if you look at them, you know.”

NZ bowlers hold their nerve to edge past WI. Fielders not so much. Some shocking catching in this tournament and again from NZ tonight. A bit lucky it didn't cost them. Very good bowling in the last two overs with the pressure on, though. Right on the money.
