What chance does Trump have of winning the 2024 Presidential Election?

It's nothing personal on my part in terms of age, whatever political disagreements I might have, genocide and that, but he's a liability electorally.

to be honest not sure if that true the Iowa vote even withstanding the weather did not set the boards alight with percentages of voters who turned out and it was the evangelical vote that brought him home

for a president in waiting it was a low turn out

100,000 ....was 180,000 in 2016 but that was a September thing. 30,000 during covid

There's a sort of grim fascination to find out what will happen if/when he does get in again, then I think of what he and his mates will do :(

I'd be taking a holiday in Canada with access to all my possessions on election day.

or... In 2020 30000 people really were putting their life in their hands to rubber stamp him, bad weather ball park halved the 2016 numbers.... Its the first Primary ... too early to tell much

The striking thing is how he doesn't fit at all with their own stated beliefs isn't it. How someone who can shit all over the constitution like that can inspire that devotion in a group who fetishise it is hard to understand. Similarly how a rabidly religious electorate can support someone who clearly isn't genuinely religious at all and whose behaviours are so totally at odds with supposed Christian values (even from the right wing angle - not talking about a 'ah but Jesus was actually a pacifist' angle here). Obviously it's more complicated than that but it's still hard to get your head round.
It's because televangelist and mega church pastors tell their flock Trump is the anointed of God, and what they say goes. Recently saw footage of one railing about how Democrats were baby-killing servants of Satan.

Obviously, these leaders know Trump is a piece of shit but they also know he needs them to maintain the facade that he's not a piece of shit plus I'm sure he's likely to give their mega churches favourable treatment and enact the policies they want to keep them sweet.

So ..what happens if Biden dies in the next few months ?
Who would be up against Trump then? Would the vice president automatically run?

Harris would be POTUS and then the Democrats would have a brokered convention, as depending on exactly when Hunter's Dad megged it, there would be unpledged delegates. Harris would almost certainly emerge as the candidate with maybe Newsome as Veep.

Yeah basically this. Low turnout because of the weather, not exactly a landslide for Trump despite the fact that possibly the most loony were the most likely to brave the cold. And Iowa caucus doesn't have a great track record of picking the winning candidate anyway.

Probably would be Harris but would be good to see Bernie Sanders make a bid for the nomination based on the fact that he came second in delegates at the 2020 convention - he's 14 months older than Biden and I wouldn't bet heavily on him surviving to 2028, but the Sanders-Trump debates would definitely be worth watching

Wasn't AOC tipped to be a front runner for 2024 back in the day, 2020?

Nobody thought Biden would live that long. Congress to POTUS isn't really viable (only James Garfield has ever done it) so she'll have to move to the Senate and get some committee time or get a very high profile job like Secretary of State or Governer of NY.

Yeah the party machine won't let someone as young and inexperienced as AOC near the candidacy. Never mind her considerably more left-wing views.
Sanders had his chance and the machine would be merciless with him if he tried again.
Newsom's probably a safe bet for '28 or '32.

I think AN Other generic Democrat would do fine tbh. Being youngish, energetic, not obviously insane and relatively low in baggage would more than compensate for the lack of a track record. Some minor state governor or something.

Why has the cunt not been bumped off? Oh, just realised - that 'honour' in the land of the free is reserved for half reasonable humans like JFK and MLK and (its a fucking long list)..
