Ukraine invasion memes and viral content

Thought this was the best place to post this. The singer Katie Melua is from Georgia and has relatives in Ukraine.

My relatives in Kiev and Kharkiv Ukraine sent me this traditional folk song. It starts with an image by a River in western Ukraine, it’s a conversation between a son and his mum. Please pray for peace and courage for all of us to be good and free.

There's a few other lines that could be revived (we don't talk about Space Force, though...)

Pretty sure there’s a Z-force in the Action Force range, I probably have a boxed vehicle somewhere and a load of figures. Might end up in the ‘stuff that isn’t worth shit anymore‘ category alongside my Rolf Harris stylophone collection and Jim’ll Fix It soap medallion.

I've just done a Google translate of my script for 'Ladybirds in Ukraine' into Ukrainian. If anyone knows the language and can correct it please let me know as I don't speak it at all.

.

Iffy meme when I could see it on a laptop screen.

( a poem!)

Also true.

Interesting snippet in Private Eye though about a journo writing an opinion article in a US magazine before the invasion about how the Kremlin warmongering was being overstated by gullible western hacks (he'd just written similar in the Daily Mail).

"One point made in his American piece but oddly missing from the Mail article ran thus: 'In a phone conversation with one of the authors last week, a senior editor at a major British mid-market tabloid agreed that 'this invasion stuff is probably all nonsense'. But fuck it, print away. 'Boris needs this to run and run."

So, a change in address to - The Russian Embassy, Free Ukraine Street, Tirana, Albania! :D

The Albanian capital Tirana has renamed the street of the Russian and Ukrainian embassies to “Free Ukraine”.

The city council approved the naming of Free Ukraine street in a unanimous vote yesterday. The street was previously named after Donika Kastrioti, the wife of Albania’s national hero Skanderberg, reports Reuters.

Tirana’s mayor Erion Veliaj said the new name would be a reminder for the Russian embassy staff. “The Russians will have to work, live and get their mail on a Free Ukraine street address.” Veliaj tweeted: “This street will define our city”.
