Denis Nikitin came up in this Ukraine’s awkward allies: the far-right Russians fighting on Kyiv’s side
- A coalition of Russians fighting for Ukraine has vowed to continue cross-border raids into Russia. The anti-Putin fighters held a press conference in Kyiv after carrying out armed attacks in Russia’s Belgorod and Kursk border regions. “It’s probably no exaggeration to say we’ve opened up a second front, taking full-scale military action into the enemy territory,” said Denis Nikitin, leader of one of the groups involved, the Russian Volunteer Corps (RDK). The avowed nationalist nicknamed “White Rex” has links to the far right and football hooliganism.

"The whole enterprise is a pet project of Kyrylo Budanov, the head of HUR. As the cross-border raids unfolded last month, Budanov praised the Russian paramilitaries as “good warriors” on a national newscast. “They’ve been helping us since the first day … They have fought in many of Ukraine’s hottest spots. We’re going to try and help them as much as we can,” he said."
"The raids are closely coordinated with the HUR, which provides logistical assistance, vets their operational plans and arms and pays them. "

I think the oppresion of the USSR makes anyone who fought them or was considered bad by them automatically a good guy in some peoples eyes. You have to wonder about these groups in Russia and Ukraine ( Canada as well) who insist on putting these things up or naming streets after Nazis and fascists
I think it’s more ideological support. They admire these fascists and their politics.I think the oppresion of the USSR makes anyone who fought them or was considered bad by them automatically a good guy in some peoples eyes.

They also killed thousands of soldiers in the German army. The hundreds of thousands of ethnic Russians who fought for the Nazis were also pretty murderous. As was the Red Army and the Russian state. Before, during and after WW2. When it comes to it there is precious little point in trying to determine who was the blood thirstiest of participants in Eastern Europe during WW2 or with what motivations. The Ukrainian nationalists who sided with the Nazis, joined the SS and who fought the USSR also slaughtered Poles and Jews. In fact they killed more Ukrainians than anyone else.
Not sure how pointing out that the Bandera-ites killed more Ukrainians than they did anyone else is trying to determine who was the bloodiest tbh. In any case with hindsight I think a better reply from myself would have been to ask why and when did the revisionist school of thought on Bandera start and gain traction. They also killed thousands of soldiers in the German army. I agree, we should all stop naming streets after villains and fighters. Mammals, birds and dead poets are far better choices
I disagree but only partly. For some (too many) then yes, but on the whole I'd say it's much more that their legacies have been whitewashed.I think it’s more ideological support. They admire these fascists and their politics.
And what's more, Russian Nazis are probably worse than Ukrainian Nazis, seeing as they're Russian. They also killed thousands of soldiers in the German army. I am confused. Are you claiming that the Ukrainians who fought for the German Nazis also killed German soldiers? How did that happen? They also killed thousands of soldiers in the German army. There was a mass defection of Ukrainians within the German Auxiliary Police (a charming bunch of lads) to the UPA-B, with all their weapons, who went on to fight German and Russian forces (along with a bit of ethnic cleansing of Polish or Jewish civilians still in the area).I am confused. Are you claiming that the Ukrainians who fought for the German Nazis also killed German soldiers? How did that happen?
