The Guardian recently published an article on 'Ukraine’s highest profile combat unit' which naturally turned out to be the 12th Special Forces Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine ie the original Azov brigade . Although the article claimed that the commander's call sign was Rex , its actually Redis and the commander's name is Denys Prokopenko who previously surrendered at Mariupol and then was exchanged in a pow swap.
In November Azov took part in the Riga Conference
Fedosiuk and Dziubenko are part of Azov’s intellectual wing, they work on political strategy and often lectured at Azov's Cossack House.
Fedosiuk is an interesting person, her husband Arseny is a veteran of the Azov regiment, having joined up back in 2014 and he also surrendered at Mariupol. She and Kateryna Prokopenko were key figures in the Association of Azovstal Defenders' Families meeting the Pope and speaking at the US Congress, the Israeli Knesset and the EU's Council of Europe. She was interviewed on Newsnight in the UK “For me it’s very important that he was always ready to protect, to defend true democratic values”, she declared, “and that’s why I love him so much.” Speaking to Euronews she complained that “many people think that Azov soldiers are neo-Nazis or fascists”,
She was also interviewed three years earlier when she worked at Azov's Cossack House.
The posters on the wall behind her are (left) Italian fascist intellectual Julius Evola and (right) Corneliu Codreanu. Evola was the most influential post-war fascist theorist in Italy. Codreanu was the Leader of the Iron Guard, the Romanian fascist organisation responsible for programs against Jews.
