I don't doubt that you are right. You’ll find that there’s a very strong sense of community here which is well worth being part of. Certainly there’s some cunts, but there’s a lot of very knowledgeable and interesting people too.
We no longer need to worry about the map of the UK when the nuclear bomb hits anymore
The twilight of the Russian pundit
Russians have pundits, too. On a Russia 1 chat show last week, MP Andrei Isayev blamed Britain for Nato’s defence of Ukraine, telling us to “Clear off back to your island” and “catch your chip and fish from your foggy marshes!” He concluded: “Pray for your moss-covered Queen!”
Smart dictatorships know not to stifle emotion but direct it. In the book Nothing is True and Everything is Possible, journalist Peter Pomerantsev illustrates how Putin’s Kremlin imported Russian analogues of American TV, current affairs shows that exposed corruption and vented anger at officials. By permitting criticism of the middle-ranks of the bureaucracy, the state thus gave the impression that dissent was possible - so long as the most powerful man, and thus the system itself, remained unchallenged.
In a sense, what you’re watching on Russia 1 is real. These talking heads are debating the issues, albeit within parameters, and Isayev probably shocked and amused as many Russians as much as he does us. (He has form: he lost his job as deputy leader of the ruling party in 2013 after a drunken row on a plane). But by encouraging him to say mad things that some in the audience might feel, the regime can give voice to dark thoughts while playing the more sober part. Another guest said Moscow could use nukes against Britain; the hosts reminded him that this would end in disaster for Russia, too.
One permits a blast of extreme punditry in order to reassert the party line, which, if we’re being honest, is what happens in the West, too. The real problem, in various regimes, isn’t a lack of free speech but of free thought, the bandwidth of opinion narrowing so far that it becomes impossible to imagine an alternative to a certain way of life that might well be insane but which the powers-that-be reinforce as normal. Thus the Russian dictatorship creates a theatre of “debate” that always concludes in the need to kill more Ukrainians.
That said, I’d quite like to live in the Britain of the Kremlin’s imagination, with its foggy marshes and mossy monarchs. Later, after tea time, Mary Poppins will take us flying with her umbrella, to hunt Russian bears.
There's been more than one of those floating about. Dark Arts did one for a while, as did some Dutch roasters (both raising money for Ukrainian charities). That's the first one I've seen in Ukraine though.
What's it taste like? I've had mixed results with good cause coffee in the past - Zapatista coffee was great, really zingy, Feral Trade was atrocious, like the sort of thing that a German budget supermarket can't shift so ends up in a British Poundland. There's been more than one of those floating about. I found it a bit green for my tastes. They had rather heavy demand while it was on offer, and I think it may have got rushed a bit. What's it taste like? Fuck off back to sucking on billionaire capitalist cock you fucking bootlicker. You pathetic people make me fucking sick.
If I do get banned (which no doubt I will now) then atleast I won't have to put up the idiotic drivel you wankers post on here anymore.
You got pulled for sharing an alt-right, sexist meme without engaging your brain first. Something many people have done here. Instead of taking the criticism and looking at how it might be perceived you started frothing instead.I no doubt went OTT, but as I said it wasn't me who commenced the slating and insults.

The TalkTV gamble is doomed to failure
The primary focus of the column is to sneer down at TalkTV, set up by Murdoch a rival media oligarch. The second section of the column about Russia 1 is clearly intended to be read with that in mind.
Separated out from that context the points it makes about creating a 'theatre' of 'managed' performative 'debate' and controversy are ones I'd agree with. Also the implicit message to be as sceptical about how far the talking heads on Russia 1 can be taken as 'representing' an 'official line', as one would be about Murdoch's 'gobs for hire' on TalkTV.
But I'd apply that scepticism across the board to the entire pool of 'experts' and 'alt-experts' in the septic tank linking academia, think tanks, political and campaigning organizations, churches, the fringes of the media, and so on and so on. Tim Stanley the author of this article is himself a pretty emblematic example.

They have been one of the symbols of Ukrainian resistance since the beginning of the Russian invasion: now the farmers have their own video game. Images of these agricultural vehicles towing Russian armored vehicles have flourished on social media, inspiring independent developers.
Thus was born the “Ukrainian FarmArmy”, dedicated to all those farmers who, as best they could, held back the Russian forces. The game is available on the itch.io platform at a price of your choice. Profits generated by developers will be directed to associations with a presence in Ukraine.
I didn't post that meme though, I posted an image from the meme which I understood to be representative of some liberals in the meme I posted - atleast that was the intention. And criticising me for using the word lib/liberal when the meme I posted was about liberals is completely absurd and ludicrous if you ask me.You got pulled for sharing an alt-right, sexist meme without engaging your brain first. Just in case you've not encountered the angry feminist meme before, here's an example of the genera:

Do an image search of "angry feminist meme" and you'll get plenty more. All from an alt-right/ incel/ misogynist perspective. Remember that in the good ol' USA, liberal is Trump speak for anyone to the left of George Bush. Your facebook anarchist friend should know better too.
