Ukraine and the Russian invasion, 2022-24

Belgorod in Russia just been hit by missiles overnight.
So that's happening then. Hardly surprising I suppose.

Reports that 3 ammo dumps were hit last night, in 3 cities, this is the explosion seen in Belgorod. What's not clear is if the explosion in Belogorod hit the target, rumour at the moment is that a OTR-21 SRBM missile was used.

Just a quick amendment update regarding both Aslin's and Pinner's route into the Marines .

Both joined the Georgian National Legion

Aslin is on the far left , next to him another 'career volunteer' Tony Giddings , on the far right John Harding

Pinner on the right

Pinner was also featured in a fascinating documentary Ukraine -Europe's Forgotten War made by ex Royal Marine Emile Ghesson (which I would thoroughly recommend) when he later joined Azov to do his NATO standard training

( Pinner interview starts about 56min 55 secs)

Update on the other two Brits who joined Azov from the Georgian Division . Tony Giddings ( first photo above next to Aslin) is now MIA last seen in Mariupol John Harding ( first photo above last man on the right ) was last seen on a bus being evacuated from Avostal but surprisingly no further news despite the fact that would be linked with Pinner and Aslin

This is some utterly mad terrifying footage filmed by Russian/seperatist soldiers working in one of the big arms depots that went boom a few days ago. Just descends further into hell, the noise is incredible. All that stuff going off is happening there, not thudding into civilian apartment blocks in Ukrainian cities.

I watched that, was utterly terrifying.

Fuck that for a game of soldiers.

The phrase “hell on earth” gets overused, but fuck me..

Another goodwill firework display this evening in Kherson Oblast. Demilitarisation in action.

There was also a recent hit on a command centre in the same area that allegedly took out five high-ranking generals.

Phillips P. OBrien comments..

The Russians left a ludicrously easy to locate, major supply depot exactly where someone would expect to find it. Either the Russians are unable to react because of command failure or they cant actually move the depots because they lack the road movement (dont have enough trucks)

Why this is important, is that its as predictable a location for a depot for an army at peace and without any worry of attack as one could choose. Its exactly where anyone would look for a depot, right next to a large rail line in a town near a transport hub. Depots for dummies

If true, going cap in hand to Iran for military hardware is pretty embaressing for Putin...

...and it's worth pondering what Iran will get from Russsia in return. Especially considering Iran has made significant progress enriching uranium.

Putin is off to Tehran next week - he's meeting up with Erdogan while he's there. Officially the subject on all their lips will be Syria, but I don't doubt there'll be other conversations going on. Putin is going to fucking love Erdogan for letting Finland in and Sweden into NATO...

Lots of chat on the Ru telegram channels about Ukr simply chewing through its logistics and HQ hubs - it's all on the normal OSINT twitter accounts - they are also of the view that the Ru Army simply can't disperse it's logs/HQ's away from 'one really big one' because it's a) fundamentally contrary to everything the Ru Army teaches about warfare, and b) they simply don't have the trucks and the automation necessary to run a disperses logistics system.

The work of year/decades they reckon....

Igor Girkin is spitting feathers. Which is nice. :)

eta found a handy compendium of Ru feather spitting here: Russians react to Nova Kakhovka explosion • WarTranslated - Dmitri Masinski

What the Russians want to do is place their ammo dumps by their targets

Meduza has seen a Kremlin poll that says 30% of Russians want the war to end now versus 57% in favour of continuing: 30 percent of Russians say they want the war to end immediately What the latest Kremlin-commissioned opinion poll reveals about domestic support for the war — Meduza Age splits unsurprisingly put those more likely to be sent to fight it as most opposed but even that headline figure is pretty solid given the climate and information availability, seems to me. Wonder how much that will affect policy if at all.

It seems that a Belarusian border guard crossed into Ukraine, to fight on the Ukrainian side.
The mustachioed dictator of course denies it and has said the man resigned.

https://mil.in.ua/en/news/a-belarus...fight-against-russia-was-detained-in-ukraine/

The Ukrainian border guards in the Volyn region detained a man without identification documents who illegally crossed the border from the territory of Belarus.

The detainee claimed that he is a Belarusian border guard serving in the Brest border group and wants to join the Defence Forces of Ukraine in the war against the Russian invasion forces.

The man claimed that he was coming to Ukraine with a fellow supporter, but on the way to the border, they were discovered and chased with fire by the Belarusian military or border guards.
