Ukraine and the Russian invasion, 2022-24

On a tangental note, because my A level politics teacher was seeing one of Benn's team we all got taken off to see PMQs (I got a seat seemingly directly above Kinnoch's shining pate), and there was a row of buttons in front of me. The HOC person said to me 'don't touch them! you. must. not. touch. them.', so obviously the first thing I did was lean on them in my desire to get a better view, and fessed up to which he said 'did anything happen? no? don't it again tho'. I'd quite like to know what those buttons were supposed to do.
You probably helped vote the poll tax in :(

I'm not sure that F-16s in the air is that unusual - pretty much most of the US air assets we see over the Far West of Wales on exercises are F-16s, for example.
Bravo on being consistant with your leg humping, but at least try to stick to subjects you have at least a faint fucking clue about, its F15s that are regulars, the F16s are a rarity

It seems to be the same story here (Ukrainians like the UK and Johnson).

Could have something to do with bbc news being listened to idk.

Quite a disconnect between feelings towards NATO and feelings towards NATO countries.

Also who the fuck very favorable towards Putin?

Another war crime right there. Is it too much to hope that they will be held to account for it this time?
That chubby pilot they captured the other day was a veteran of Syrian bombing campaigns, shame they looked relatively unscathed after capture.

I mean how the fuck does anyone justify this? How do you follow that ‘hi honey what did you get up to at work today?’ with ‘oh not much, bombed a maternity hospital’. Zero fucking humanity.

Anyone else hear the Russian commentator (don't know if journalist or party hack?) on the Today programme (roughly 7.55-8.00am) this morning? Je-sus-Christ. Has to be heard to be believed.

"Russians don't bomb civilians. I have evidence"

"What's your evidence?"

"I just know"

etc. Mildly interesting view into how to twist someone's mind through propaganda (or threats).

As I say, roughly 1h 55m in.

Interesting idea, Russian speakers abroad should call random Russian people’s phones & talk to them about the war. I don’t know what kind of reactions you’d get, fear quite often I imagine.
Yep, "hey I got the FSK on the phone trying to trick me into saying I'm against the special military operation".

Ejector seat for the Speaker.

Pretty crazy interview on World at One today with Natalya Narochnitskaya in Moscow. Sarah Montague gets off to a bad start with the wrong description of her guest, who then goes off on one. Ukraine is the aggressor of course, attacking Russian speakers in Donbas etc etc. Interview starts at around 28.20 minutes in.

Isn't that what the Guardian proposed in 2004? That time it was suggesting people phone up ordinary Yanks and tell them Kerry was better than Bush.

This is a nice idea but I don't think random Russians would necessarily be willing to give their views to total strangers? Could also see the potential for abuse.

When I lived in Russia I went on tinder one time and swiped right on someone who turned out to be a Syrian rights activist in the states who was contacting Russians by dating apps and telling them about what Putin was doing. I thought that was a great idea, I don't know if Tinder is part of the sanctions though.
